This Side of the Blue

The first photo-post is from L Lagrange.

I took this picture for the light table assignment we had a few weeks ago. I used a light table (obviously) and my props included one of my old blue skirts, some translucent yellow paper, and a glass thingie. I'm not really sure what the glass object is, i just found it in the studio that day. I named this picture "This Side of the Blue" after a great song by the harpist Joanna Newsom. so there you go.

I love this photo for several reasons. First of all it is well composed, it seems balanced and complete. The image is also clear, focused and well exposed. Secondly I like it on an abstract level. My eyes tend to focus on the beautiful folds of the cloth you used; it has a good texture and the more opaque areas of it create lines that help move my eye around the work. The foreground object is unusual and contains interesting details, it contrasts just enough from the background to make it pop. I like the touch of yellow you included. Great job and great first post to this blog. You placed the bar fairly high.
