Outstanding bird

Contributed by J Brinkerhoff

I took this shot while I was at the Zoo. My favorite part about this photo is the stark difference between the bird and the background. The branches that go across the photo also seem to help this out. I only wish that some of the areas of the photo were not as hot as they were, I guess it was the time of day. Anyways, just let me know what you think.

Good use of the rule of thirds. The subject has very intense warm colors which contrast the muted cool colors in the backround. Solid shot.

As you already know, I really like this picture. I love how the colors of the bird are so vibrant, and the rest of the picture is very dull. Its a really nice contrast between the colors. Keep up the good work BrinkerHOFFF.

That is a brilliant shot! The way all concentration was on the bird really makes it "POP".

I really like this picture because the vibrant colors of the bird with the neutral background, you did an awesome job on your depth of field.

I like everything about this shot. It's so vibrant in the birds feathers, and the branches lead you around the photo. The contrast between the bird and the ground behind it is stunning, so stunning that the bird seems drastically out of place in such a drab atmosphere. The rule of thirds really works for this image, and the depth of field makes your subject stand out even more. Also the bird is in sharp and clear focus, which to me is the basis of a good photo. WOW!

This bird is very captivating. Not only do its bright colors and texture make it stand out, but so does your use of depth of field. However, I think it would’ve been better to have the subject on the right side of the frame since it is looking left. This would give it better direction. Also, the bright lighting in the background detracts the focus away from the bird. Other than those minor things, you did a nice job.

This is an amazing photo. Although it is at the zoo, you don’t see birds like that often. The darker background really brings out the color of the bird. I think maybe a different angle could of made it better. Rule of thirds is used great.

I like how you had the bird in focus. It really makes it stand out. The colors of the bird are really pretty. I think if the bird was in the other corner it would have been a better shot.

I really like how the foreground is in focus and the background is out of focus. I also like how this picture uses the rule of thirds.

So just photoshop that bird over to the right side of the image and you will have your masterpiece. Nice job on the dof and the color.

Great contrast dude. I love the gray background and the brightly colored bird, though I think the coloring of the feathers could stand to be saturated even a little more. Aside from that no other issues. Good job

The background definitely makes the colorful bird stand out and I like how you can tell what the center of interest is, and I like that it’s not in the middle.
