Misty Morning

Contributed by J Crocker

I took this back in October on a 24 hour camping trip on the beach. It was really early in the morning. I like how the sun hits the sand and the mist coming off the water.

I really like how the sun rays come through the cloud. The water really looks good, and the mist that is coming off of the ocean is really nice. I also like how everything is pretty dark except for the water. I also like how the buildings are in thee dark and how the picture gets lighter as it gets closer to you. I really like this picture, the focus is very good.

I really like this photograph. The beach scene alone is beautiful. The gray of the sky is reflected in the water and helps to unify the piece. The angle that descends into the horizon is unique and adds a great deal of depth. good work!

i really like the atmosphere in the picture. normally the beach is really happy and bright, while this picture shows that not everything is perfect and that even the beach can be dreary . also the beach cutoff where the waves stop is pretty cool.

I love the cloudy kind of element to this picture. I love the sun rays and how the water kind of has a misty feel to it. Also the people out on the kind of point with the buildings behind them kind of sends the man seeks solitude and peace in nature kind of vibe. The curve of the sand extending away from you to the people also adds to that element and the waves make diagonals down the other side of the frame which really draws the eye to where they meet at the people. I really love this image.

I really enjoy the balance in this photo. I like the lines of the waves and the sand and how they meet and lead to the people in the distance. The lighting is very cool and mysterious from the side and brings out some good highlights. I feel like this could be a postcard. Nice job!

Jade, this is a really gorgeous image that captures the feel of being at the beach very well. The distant figures and buildings add necessary scale to the image. The best thing is the light, which is to your credit for nailing the exposure and for getting out with your camera at the right time of day. Great work.

I really like this picture. The colors are calming and the water line leads to the people of in the distance and then the rays of sun are shining down on them. Nice work.

This is a fantastic shot, by far one of my favourites! The contrast between the fluid and lighter ocean, and the geometric and darker shore. The spray from the ocean in the distance with the rays form the sun piercing through the clouds...I can hardly think of words to describe it. I like how the people are in the distance and unrecognizable, and not the subject of the shot. I also like how the buildings are almost silhouettes and seem to disappear into the mist. Great shot.

Jade this is an awesome picture that really captures the unique beauty of the beach that you dont get to see very often. I really like the crispness of the photo also. The focus is really good and there is still good lighting in spite of the sky being overcast. Nicely done.

This beach is wow. I like how you captured the sky as it is reflected onto the beach. I also like how it seems that the part of the beach you are on is untouched by hotels. Also, the sudden drop off is really cool. Another good picture from Jade.

This is a wonderfully moody image. I like the light and the composition. If I was going to be really picky I'd say that the person in the background should not be in the dead center of the photo, but the form is small and does give scale to the whole. Good job.

I would just like to say what everyone else has said about this photo that it is a fantastic shot! I LOVE IT! The way that way that the people are in the very back makes me wonder what they are doing. Also the way that the light is coming in from the top right corner. It is a great shot!

This is a beautiful photograph! I really love how the highlights on the water and the light coming through the clouds are contrasted by the shadows on the beach. The mist coming off of the water also creates a great effect.

I like this picture a lot. I think the lighting is what makes the shot. It would look a little better if the hotels or the people were a little closer to the camera. There are a lot of good parts to the picture but I think it could be improved with a more dominant subject.

I really like this picture. I like how the raise from the sun come thru the clouds in the distance. Also for some reason how the waves look at the moment the picture was taken. Great job.

The depth of field is great in this photo. Everything from the far off buildings to the hide tide is in focus. The waves are very sharp and if you look close are very detailed, while the buildings are still in focus but look soft against the cloudy sky. The colors of this picture are unusual for a beach setting, but work very well for this photo. The blues and grays give it a gloomy feeling, but it is still appealing to the eye. The soft shoulder of the beach offsets the power of the waves. Both lines however lead you to the beach goers. What is also intriguing is that the sun rays also create diagonal lines and also lead to those on the beach. I love everything about this picture: the silhouettes of the people, the buildings off in the distance, the few strands of the luminescent sun peeking through the clouds, and most of all how the power and beauty of the oceans’ waves have been captured in this photo.
