Bison

Contributed by J Morris

I took this picture of a heard of bison that went by our snow cat later in the day. I like the angle of the picture. I also like how I got so many of them close together. Tell me what you think.

WOW! how did you get so close to the bison? Don't you know how dangerous they can be? well, anyways, i like the picture due to the dare-devil-ness of the shot. the only thing i would change is something i dont think you (the photographer) could fix. i wish that the snow cat hadn't already come through. i think the picture would have looked really neat if the bison were sort of "trudging."

Good job Jay. The composition of this shot is its strong point. The rule of thirds really stabilizes the shot. Bottom left with the head of the Bison, top left with the snow covered rock, creating a contrast against the dark river/stream/lake, the top right is simply the river segmenting the picture as a whole, while leaving some land on the other side, giving the shot a since of closure with the uniformity of the bottom and top of the shot. Then the simplicity of the bottom right corner of just the snow calms the picture. It makes it where the shot isn't too busy. White balance is good, lighting is good, again, I'm a fan.

This is so cool. Great picture….!
I like the lighting and how it seems so natural, the animals seem to not even know your there.

It shows where the buffalo are heading. The lighting is good. I’m pretty amazed how close you were able to get to them. But I think it be better if the picture had a little more space in the front where the leading buffalo is at, so that it gives him some space. I think you did a great job. Good work!

I really like this picture i like how they are in motion. i think you could probably change the lighting so the shadows will show up more. I feel that the heard is a little out of focus. You should try different thing in photo shop because its a little boring but other than that good job!

I would like to commend you on your photo, I love it! I like how you were able to get so many bison together. The angles of the bison work well also, as they make your eyes move through the picture. I do like the depth of field as they make it where you have the one bison in the lead and then the rest are following. Great Job!!

this is a good shot and i actually really like the snow aspect. The white in the snow helps the brown buffalo to pop out at the viewer. Since the snow is distributed throughout the picture its not like one area is just overwhelming because of the white. The line the buffalo are walking in allow the viewers eye to move around the piece. The composition is good. Good rule of thirds! i also really like the mood of the piece. Its daring and funny at the same time : ) keep up the good work!

I really like the focus and the crispness of the picture. The dark color of the water, the brown of the bison, and the white of the snow really contrast well. I also like how the whole picture is connected. The picture feels a little off center the picture feels crooked. I think it could have been a little bit more balanced. But overall it is a very good picture.

I really like this Jay. I like how the colors are dull, it gives of sense of how cold it was. This is also a really interesting subject so it makes it a neat picture.

this picture is outstanding. i really like how you were able to capture bison like this which i would think is quite a hard subject to capture. also i like the landscape slope, it really brings out the movement of the bison along their little trail. all around great job.

This is a really interesting picture. Cool angle and everything is crisp and clear, so you can see how smooth the water is and the fuzziness of the first buffalo. Really pretty scene, Great job

It looks like you are doing great. I already comment your “Flying High” picture, but it looks you have a big selection of great pictures. This is really professional picture. You did amazing job! Keep going…..

This is another Good Shot Jay. once again you did a good job in not making the picture blown out with all the snow. the only suggestion i would make would be to edit in a slight motion blur to give the picture a more dynamic feeling.
