Building a Mystery

Contributed by M Bevis

I took this picture downtown awhile ago. I thought the building was really interesting and I liked the stairwell leading up. I put a curves adjustment on this photo and cloned stamped a couple of weird things out.

This is a pretty good shot. I like the position this shot was taken from and the contrast between the windows and the bricks. The stairs and drainage pipe create good lines that my eye likes to follow.

morgan, i love this picture! i love the subject of urban decay and i think the colors and rust in this photograph create a very dismal mood- which i like. the focus is good, the angle is perfect. lots of leading lines within the ladder, window frames, and piping. one of my favorites by far :)

thats a nice picture of the building and how the windows are lined up on an invisible line. also i like the increase of red (im assuming that's what you increased in the curves adjustment). it really helps the bricks stand out and seem more interesting.

I like the lines created with the gutter on the left side of the frame and the ladder and how that contrasts with the brick. I almost wish that filled up more of the frame and maybe the sky wasn't even in the image. The color also looks a little dull which kind of lessens the impact of the rust and the brick.

i like the angle of the picture. i like how the picture looks up with the stairwell. i also like how you got the water drain going straight up. so you have a great deal of implied lines. I do not like how you have that pitch black under the landing up there. that just kinda stands out in the picture. i do like that you can see in that first window there. there on the bottom right side of the picture you have a little white thing. i am not sure what it is but i would crop that out. i do like the ladder as well. i wish the sky was a bit more blue. I like how the rust red was brought out on this picture. i do like the angle that the roof makes against the side. so overall great job.

I love the angle that you took this picture from. It makes what would be a boring building seem really interesting. Great leading lines! I also like how the color of the rust and brick is contrasted by the little bit of sky you included in the top.

I feel like this could be a nice shot. needs work though. the angle is nice however, it could be better. needs something not sure what it is. the sky eliminates the balance in the pic and there is a glare up around the platform, keep up the work. a reflection in the windows could turn out really neat.

This looks like a professional shot. The vividness and color in the building along with the texture and angle that the shot is taken at work. Good Job.
