Alex

Contributed by G Lee

This is a picture of a little girl named alexandra. The original image made me feel like I had very little to work with. With a tight crop and and some other adjustments I feel like I pulled out a nice image.

I like how only part of the face is visible. I like the lighting shining on the girl’s braid and shirt. The tight crop gave this photo a more interesting perspective and makes people want to look at it longer. I get a playful feeling from this photo like it is a child waiting to run and play. I would hang this photo up because it is really creative.

I like this image very much and had a few things been done differently, I think I would love it. One of my favorite aspects is the crop. I love that it's tight and tells a story without giving specifics. I think, however, that I may have liked it more had her nose been in the shot..then again, maybe not. Just a thought. The vertical line of her ponytail, the individual diagonals within the braid, and the horizontal lines on her shirt all work very well together in moving the eye throughout the composition. The only thing that really bothers me about this image is the harshness of the contrast. I felt that worked for your city shot but this is a softer subject and so I think the contrast should match that.

I really like the crop in this photo. But I don’t really like the harshness of the black and white effect. I would have lowered the contrast a bit, but that’s just me. Over all this is a great picture.

I really like the crop on this photo because it leaves you curious. I like the contrast and the different textures. The lines in her shirt add interest and i also really like her smile because it seems as though she is up to something.

I really like the contrast of the black and white in this photo. I also like how it doesn't show her whole face..it leaves you to wonder about it. I like that. My favorite part of this photo is the braid in her hair. I really like how the light shows up. Even though the braid is a little messy, I still really like it. Good job!

I like this photo a lot. The focus on the subject is very sharp. The black and white is distinct. I like the tight crop. It makes me feel serious. The girl's face is very mysterious. I can't tell if she is smiling. The tight crop keeps me looking at the photo longer. To me there are a lot of really dark areas but I think it adds more to the photo. I would definitely hang this on my wall. Very good picture.

I really love this picture! You did great on the cropping. I would lightened up the contrast a little bit. The shadow under the chin is a little too harsh, and is the same color as the horizontal line on her shirt that really stands out. To me, those are a little bit distracting. But I'm not you and those are just my opinion.

This photo is really creative. The crop is really what sets it out from the rest. I think the coloring is good, maybe a little dark in places. But overall, great job.

I like how the hair is straight down the left side. It moves your eye's up and to the right to where the girl's lips are. The two black stripes on the shirt are somewhat too dark, as well as the shadow under her chin. Overall, Good job.

I think this is a great photo. I don't know if the intent was for a mood, but for me, it gives off a satisfied mood. She looks happy, but serious at the same time. I love how it's in black and white, you can't go wrong with it. The only thing that catches my eye, is the bright spot on the left. Other than that, great job!

I like this image because of the crops uniqueness. The image is also interesting because it shows mystery and at the same time joy. This is a good example of fill in the frame is special and very different from other frames. The black and white color make it a kind of sad mood but when you look at the girls mouth that changes. This image is a very good one! I like it. MC SPHS
