Copper Cat

Contributed by M Morgan

This is a cast iron cat sculpture in my yard. I saturated it, cropped it and sharpened it.

I like the subject and it has a definite focus that pops out to me. You did a good job in blurring out the background to make the red stand out. Plus, the contrast between the colors works adds to that. However, maybe emphasizing or adding shadow on the rusty cat would improve the subject.

I really like this photo. Although it's very simple, i love the strong contrast between the red cast iron cat and the blurred greenery; the cat instantly becomes the main focus. Also, the filled picture plane allows the viewer's eye to move around the entire photo. When I look at this photo, I think about a rainy day and this sculpture out in the yard can be seen from everywhere. The saturation really defines the image and sets the mood. I love the way the cat's whiskers branch out toward the edge of the picture and the crop is great. Great job overall and I look forward to future pics!

I really like this photo. I love the iron cat sculpture. I like how it is mostly the main focus, even though the green background of the leaves is there. I like how the leaves are a bit blurry because it doesn't take away from the iron cat. Good job!

This is a nice photo; I like the contrast of colors, how rusty red totally stands out from the green plants in the background. I also like the depth of field, how the focus is in the middle at the cat’s nose.

I like this photo there is something that just catches my attention. The iron cat is in a very good focus. Even though the background is brighter, the object stands out. It was a nice job to make the background blurry. It made the cat be the primary focus in this frame. I also saw a fill in the frame kind off photo. The composition is also interesting. Keep up the good work!

This photo seems a bit over saturated to me. The statue looks really red, although I don’t know if that is an effect of the saturation or if the statue really is that color. Bright colors usually evoke energy and happiness, but for me, rust indicates something old and quiet, not energetic and happy. This might have worked as a happy garden scene with bright colors, but the lighting looks a little too gray for that.
I like the contrast between the leaves and the cat. Your subject very clearly stands out when it is in front of leaves. The focus on this is also very good. You have focused right on the cat’s face, and where the focus is sharpest you can make out the texture of the rust and all of the individual colors.

I really like the contrast between the red cat and the green background. The shallow DOF letting only the cat be in complete focus helps it stand out as the main subject. I also like how the cat is diagonal instead of facing straight on. The colors really pop and make the photo interesting. I like this photograph and it is diffidently a keeper because it is interesting and brightly colored. Good job!
