i really like this picture, i like the way that you can only see the outline of vulcan rather than his detailing. you did a good job of having the light come in behind the statue to make the outline even more apparent. i also like how the sun isn't too bright and the sky is so blue and clear.
This person did a good job on this photo. They used the rule of thirds very well . I also like how the statue is blacked out contrasting the blue sky. If I was to change anything, I would have not cut off the hand. It has a sort of victorious feel to it. Great job.
I like this photo. It looks kind of cool with the way the statue is and the sunny sky behind it. Although, I think it would be better if you could see the statue a little better.
The composition of this photo is overall good, but I agree with the above person that you should not have cut off the hand. Also, there probably could have been a little more going on in this photo than simply just a silhouette and a blue sky.... Maybe bring out the sunlight somewhat by darkening the rest of the sky. Just right now it seems kind of boring.... DM - SPHS
I really like this picture. I like how it's off to the left of the image, instead of centered. The contrast is also very good. It makes the Vulcan stand out from the sun and sky.
This is a very good taken photo. The way the statue is blacked out really goes well with the sky and the whiteness of the sun at the bottom of the statue. The angle of the photo is my favorite part. The angle really adds a great perspective to the photo, really making it a great photo .
I think tis photo is very good. I like how the entire statue is in shadow. The statue contrasts very well with the sky behind it. It is a very unique concept and idea. It is very well done.
I really like this photo. I love how it shows the silhouette of the vulcan. the only light source in the photo is the sun below the photo behind the vulcan. Patrick did a great job using the rule of thirds on this photo. I also like how there is nothing else in the photo to distract yo from the vulcan. TW-SPHS
i think this photo is really nice and interesting. The way the light makes the person look black is interesting and draws my eyes towards it. I also like that its off to the side however there is to much empty space. The way the person is posed makes the viewers eyes go from the top left corner and through which was smart. This picture seems like it was taken when something fun was starting and it makes me want to go outside in the sun more. ~SPHS ESO
I really like this picture. I think the way the statue is off centered and angled gives it a different stance and viewpoint compared to the normal straight shot photo. I really like the brightness and placement of the light and how the photo isn't over exposed. Even though I know this is a photo of the Vulcan, it gives a very patriotic feeling! Good Job! -SPHSKM
I like the outline style of this photo. The soft light behind the Vulcan statue really adds to the picture. The clouds almost look like they are originating from the statue and floating away from it. Also good use of the rule of thirds and the positioning of the statue is great. ZD SPHS
This picture is pretty cool, I like the way that the vulcan is just outlined instead of detailed. The A+ exposure makes the sky look blue and clear. The only fault is the awkward cutoff of the hand and the foundation of the statue.
This high school photoblog is the product of the photography students at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Al.
Students take turns posting one of their images along with a brief explanation each school day. The students also trade critiques with their peers from other schools around the country (see high school blog links below).
We are always looking to expand our participating schools. If your photography program starts a blog, email Mr. Myers so he can add your link to our growing list. emyers@hoover.k12.al.us
