Creeper

Contributed by P Glenn

I took this photo while I was in Mountain Brook this past weekend. There was a Christmas parade while I was taking these shots, that was more for parents to watch their kids, which really opened up the sides of the street to take advantage of everyone standing still so I could move around them. I was trying to find pictures for our contrasting textures. I had saw this vine of leaves outside a bank and I had and thought it might make for an interesting shot. I found that the contrast between the geometric shapes and the organic shape of the leaves. I also thought it was interesting that the leaves had a strong texture on them, while the brick was very smooth. I tried to make the background as interesting as possible by adding in the grey brick. I also thought that the red brick color also went great with the green leaves, especially since we are entering the Christmas season. In Photoshop I made sure that I got the horizontal lines to be as level as possible. I also ran a curves adjustment and upped the contrast a little bit. I used a smaller aperture so I had to have a longer shutter speed. Overall I was very pleased with the look of the photo. I really want to head back there another day and try a few different angles on this subject.

I Really like this photo. I think the light red goes great with the green. It gives it a softness to the picture.I also like how the grey brick stands out. SPHS AM

Cool photo. I like how the brick pattern is broken up by the plant growing across it. The horizontal and vertical lines contrast really well with the diagonal line made by the plant. I also like the colors of it a lot. The red brick being contrasted by the green leaves is really nice, and I love how there us that one lone gray brick off center from the pic. The only thing I would have done to make the pic better wold be some levels and contrast adjustments in photoshop to try to really bring out those leaves from the wall. Other than that though, this is a really great shot. MFS @ SPHS

I really like this picture because of the color scheme. I also love how the straight line (bricks) is being intercepted by a vine as a diagonal line. I also love the random blue brick, really makes the picture stand out. Really cool picture!

I like the simplicity of this picture. The detail works well with the picture. I think the picture would be too plain without the darker brick. It gives it a little more to look at. Good photography though.

I think this photo is ok. there really isn't anything special about to me. I think you should do a curves adjustment or something and it might be a bit better. it's not bad though. it's Just nothing special.

I like this photo. It is not a great photo because there is nothing that catches my eye. But still, i find its simplicity very good. I like how the vine breaks up the brick pattern. I also like how there is one different colored brick thrown in with the red ones. It really makes the picture better. TW-SPHS

I don't really like this photo. It is too simple and doesn't grab my attention. I wish that the bricks would have a used look to them, and the leaves torn. I do like colors. They really balance each other out. I also like the small dark brick. It stands out from the other bricks.

I really like this photo its plain and simple but it still catches the eye. I love the one dark square stuck in with all the red bricks. The color does seem kind of dark but it works for the picture. I think you did a good job.

This picture does have some interesting texture differences, and contrasting colors along with proper rule of thirds usage, but I find that this picture is kind of bland, kind of meh. It lacks any pizzazz at all.
