My Old Kentucky Home

Contributed by A McComb

I took this picture a couple weekends ago while on a road trip in Kentucky. I took a lot of great shots of this old abandoned house. It was a little creepy and we almost got in trouble, but well worth the shots. I cropped and did a levels adjustment.

I like this photo a lot, the worn down look of this place really interests me. I'm curious as to why there are 4+ doors right beside each other, to be honest and I find the Private Property sign kinda humorous, actually. As far as the actual composition and such, I'm not quite sure there's much I really would do to it. This is a great picture.

This is kinda creepy, but it's a really nice shot. I like how its the roof is mainly level, but the left side could go up some. The quality of the paint chipping and the rust is very good. I also like the private property sign, it adds to the umph in the picture. Again good job on this photo.

I really like your picture! I like the old fashioned look. The picture looks mysterious and a little creepy. The color contrast on the picture is really good too. I also like the focus on the picture. Your attention is drawn to the doors and makes you wonder what is inside.

This is a good shot. The colors look really good together, and I love the splash of orange on the no trespassing sign. I love the dimness of the shot, and the cropping works well with the proportions of the picture.

I really love the color in this picture. It adds to the drab feeling of the house, because it all looks a little blue, but it is also vivid and contrasting at the same time. Nice shot; it does a good job of conveying the feeling of the picture.

i really like this picture! i like the creepy kind of feel to it. at the same time, though, it has an organized feel. The picture is so straight and symmetric yet so unorganized. It confuses me but i like the overall picture.

This is a great photo, I like how there are a lot of components to the photo itself but at the same time is very minimalist. The strangeness of the three doors isn't noticeable until you start really looking at it and you realize how interesting it is. Great job.

I really find this shot interesting. I love the classic shot of old run down buildings. I bet it would be really interesting in black and white. The rust of the tin roof really adds to the contrast of the blue! Nice job. -SPHSKM

I think this photo is really cool. I like how the colors stand out against the cream/white doors. I also like how it looks creepy and mysterious. Just by looking at the photo, I want to be there to open every door to see what's inside. This photo is really unique and you did a great job :)

i really like this photo. i like the vintage effect it has and the way everything is rusted and dead including the leaves. one thing that bothers me about this photo is the way it cuts off parts id like to see. i think you should have stood farther back when you took the photo. but i do like how the photo seems like it is telling a story. i love abandoned things because they always seem to tell a story.

This shot is very nice with maybe a few modifications needed. I love the way the different colors "pop" out at your eye from areas of the house and the technical aspect of the shot is pretty much flawless. The only changes I might would have made would be to clone-stamp out the private property sign, as it is distracting to the eye. Also, some of the trash along the bottom draws your eye away from the rest of the shot. Other than these details, the shot is fantastic!

The house looks scary. Nice shot though, the work you did on it was nice too.

This picture is fabulous. I love the “haunted” feeling it gives off. It seems like something you’d see in a horror film. I love how you used repetition by capturing all three doors. I also like how you captured just a hint of the roof, adding to the oldness of the house. Overall I think this shot is fantastic, great job!

I like how the picture is captured and it's very attracting, the colors vary with each other. The roof has very different colors which make the image more valuable and more attracting. I also like the adjustments that you did in the picture. This picture is interesting I really like it . Good Job!!

The creepy feeling of this house really creates a interesting shot. The colors are really vivid and the red bricks look really rich as does the rust on the roof. Although some like the private property sign, I personally would of cropped or clone stamped it out. TC-SPHS

This is a great photo. The house looks likes its abandoned and gives a very creepy feeling. I'm thinking this is a hotel because of the numerous doors. The color of the roof is very vivid and looks as if it had water damage.
