For my sister

Contributed by M Tanner

I took this while I was out with my little sister on our patio. She wanted me to take a picture of her little monkey that she had on the ground. This isn't one of my favorite shots, but I think it turned alright. I ran a smart sharpen and I cropped the image.

This is a pretty cool picture. The back is super blurry which makes the monkey really stand out. It might have made this picture a bit better if maybe the background was colorful or something to bring out this picture. Great job with the focusing part.

I really like this picture, mostly because of the composition. I like how you used a rough rule of thirds, it totally works! Along with that, the lighting is fantastic. There's no crazy hotspots or dark spots that draw distract my eye. Great shot!

This is a really good picture. The monkey looks like it is popping out of the picture and it looks especially better since it is on the thirds rule. The background not being in focus really adds to this. Really good job.

I love this monkey; it makes me laugh :) This is also a really nice picture. I think the lighting and the perspective make it such a good image. The background is neat, you can see a faint sunset that reflects on the patio. I like the composition too. And the focus of the image is great. The monkey is very sharp and the background is blurred out. nice job.

First of all, great depth of field shot! I think the background looks so cool with the almost circle-looking beams of light. I like how simple, yet cute, this photo is. The monkey is obviously the center of interest and draws the eye. Good use of rule of thirds as well, I like that the monkey is not smack dab in the center. Good job!

I like this picture. I like how you blurred out the background so we could focus in on the monkey. I also think it is good how you didn't position the monkey directly in the center of the shot. Overall, a good picture.

Hey Matt. Like the picture and thought it was so cool, that it deserved a comment. The subject was funny. It was also simple, but it did a lot of good for the overall work. The composition of the piece is good. There is a lot of negative space in the picture, but since it is the background and there are colors to complement the monkey it was okay. Speaking of the color scheme, I thought you made a great choice in colors. There is a very definite use of warm and cool colors, which is nice. The only thing that bothers me is the lighting on the monkey. It helps in unifying the piece, but I think that it would help if you brought in the cool blue on the top of the monkey out more. The warm color on the monkey just makes it obvious that someone set up lighting. Sorry about the long comment.

I really like this picture. The monkey really draws my attention. I like how you focused on the monkey. This picture has a good rule of thirds and great depth of field. I'm not sure what the objects are in the background. They seem a little distracting. I have to agree with Jill D. the background really stands out with the circular looking beams of light. This photo really makes me laugh.

I love the composition of the photo. Great job with rule of thirds. The only thing I would change is the lighting. The photo is a bit dark and it would look better, I think, if the monkey was a little lighter.

I really like this picture! The first thing that I like is the depth of field present in the shot. It really gives it good detail, and keeps your focus on the monkey. It doesn't let the background distract at all! I also like that there were only two main colors present in the picture. Very interesting!

I really like the colors in this shot. it almost seems to have an intentional color scheme..i also like that the background is blurry so the monkey really stands out. the setting sun in the back also adds a story of sorts to this shot. good job!
