Lovely Rita

Contributed by N Capps

I took this in downtown Birmingham. I like the urban look and the focus on the meter in front. I turned the saturation up on the sky to make it more blue and worked on the levels a bit. That was about it.

I really like the little detail of that random sticker. Good use of aperture, the parking meter is really in focus. Central subject matter is also really good use of elements of composition. Great photo.

Cool photo. I like how you focused in on the parking meter and allowed the others to fade away in the picture. I would have cropped out the street lights to add more attention to the meter. I'm kind of drawn to the street light for some reason. Everything else is really good, the aperture and lighting are great.

I really like this picture and how you focused on the first parking meter with the sticker and how if you look down the street you would see the same thing; a lamp post and a meter. I also really like the shadow of the fence.

i really like this photo. The sharpness of the sticker looks good and i think my favorite part is the ground where it looks like theres boards layed down. I do wish that there were some more things in it, but other than that, great shot!

This photo is really neat. I like how you used depth of field to bring out the parking meter. It adds a lot of depth to your photo. I like how you used the lines to draw the viewer attention from the parking meter to the back of the photo. This is a really nice shot.

I like how the rule of thirds was used here to make the subject obvious, but the background still visible. I also like the shallow depth of field that lets the front meter be in focus but everything else blurry. This is a nice shot and the sky is a nice blue. Good job!

The concept for this photo is great, but there are a few issues with the composition.
There is too much going on it the background; the red building, street lamps, ect. that distract the eye. Also it feels like the only meter in focus is shoved in the corner and slightly cut off. I do really love the sky though, it makes a wonderful contrast to the darkness of the meter and the shadows on the ground.

I like this photo, but I have a question. Why did you name the photo Lovely Rita? Anyways, I like the depth of this photo. It is almost like looking down a hole. I think you maybe could have adjusted the the contrast in the background; maybe sharpen it. Overall, a good photo.

This picture is very cool. I like the field of depth and the blurry background. The colors of the picture capture the pretty day downtown. However, the subject is a little boring. Maybe if the picture was angled differently. The use of the rule of thirds is perfect by using the off-centered subject. -KS, SPHS
