Mom on Wedges

Contributed by B Johnson

This is a shot of my mom's legs from our feet no heads assignment. I played with the curves on a few separate layers, masked a bit, and the harsh light that resulted is really appealing to me. Personally, I also really like the crop. I thought it was kinda unique and the lines from the feet made for a nice composition. The black and white also helped get rid of the distracting colors of the back wall and the carpet. Overall, I had fun taking the shot and playing with it in photoshop!

Very well done! The feet follow the rule of thirds while the various lines on the feet and shoes lead your eye around the shot. Also, the texture of the carpet and feet give the image a realistic quality. The only suggestion I would have made would be to take out some of the distractions on the wall and tone down the carpet, as it is overexposed.

I love this shot. There is so much emotion in it and the rule of thirds was followed very well. I agree that the carpet is a little blown out, but over all the photo looks great.

Bryan, I always adore your pictures. Especially the black and white ones, which seem to be your forte. Good lines and great lighting all make this nice to look at. The harsh light, as you said, really does work. And in my opinion, makes the picture; aside from the black and white. Great job. PS. I still want a copy of 1% iffy PC-SPHS

Thanks for the comment Cox. To Mr. "DM" of SPHS: the harsh lighting is intentional. Mebee you should read the statement of the picture before you comment yourself on it. Thanks for the feedback.

I like that you were able to use the curves of her feet to bring out more composition in your photo. It looks really neat against the straight lines of the border on the wall. I like that you chose to use heels in the shot because it really shows a lot of curvature. I like that you made the shot black and white as well. I think it adds some sophistication to the shot. Overall, very nice job :)

I'm not much for feet, but I have to say, I really like the work you put into it! I think this was the perfect time to use the black and white filter! That really took it and transformed it from a regular shot into a photograph! I also like the contrasts present, as well as the lines that come from the floor frame. Very good job!

I love how the lighting is only dominately on one side of the picture. Also I love the contrast. It makes it feel like its a warm summer day, even though its taken inside.

I like this photo but there is someting about it that bothers me. I like how it follows the rule of thirds. I kind of feel like some parts are too white and others are too black. It works sometimes but i don't feel like its that appealing in this case.
