Independence of the Seas

Contributed by N Capps

I took this photo over spring break. We went on Independence of the Seas and this was taken when we were stopped in Belize City. I think the photo turned out pretty good. The sky was a bit dull so I put clouds in the sky. I made the colors brighter and sharpened the image.

This image has a very potential for excellence and many areas of it are very well done. The front of the ship and the sky lead the viewer around the image, however, the darkening of the ship towards the back as well as the plain water near it detract from the overall quality of the picture. I would have suggested either taking the image in HDR or having a focal point for the eye, such as a dock or something where you are taking the picture from. Technically the picture is superb.

I really like this photo. It looks like it could be the main advertising photo for Royal Carribean's cruise ship. I especially like the particular angle you shot the ship at. Overall, this is a good photo.

It looks as though the sky is split into two different pieces in this image: one, the sky that is just above the uppermost deck of the ship, and two, the sky in the rest of the image. The difference between the two pieces is almost the difference between sunny and cloudy. The sky over the ship appears to be partly cloudy at best, whereas the rest of the sky is bordering on overcast. As a result, there is too much contrast between the two pieces of sky, making it clear that you edited the photo. I wouldn't recommend making such noticeable changes in the future if you want your photos to retain a natural look. The rest of the image is pretty good: the ship "fills the frame", the DOF is good, and there is plenty about the ship that leads the eye around the picture. I'd be interested in seeing the original photo. Just hold off on the heavy editing, and you'll have some nice pics!

This photo stood out to me because of the contrast of the white cruise ship on the ocean. I like how there is different shades of blue from the ocean and the sky. The lines om the the cruise ship lead your eye further into the picture. The angle this was taken at creates a neat perspective effect. The clouds also add a nice effect to the background. nice picture. dn sphs

This photo is amazing. I love the colors. The ship is so big and the angle that the photo is taken really shows how big it is. The depth of field is deep and the way the whole boat is showed shows the depth. I like how you adjusted the clouds because it makes it look like paradise, literally. I love the colors and the brightness; it definitely feels beachy and springy. Overall, really great photo!!

This is a great photo! The contrast and exposure are good. The angle you took this is really cool, you get to see the full ship from the side view, but the angle also gives it some distance within the photo. I like how you put clouds in the background. This photo looks as though it would be in a magazine. Great job!!!

I really like the photo, except the added clouds throw me off because they don't look like they belong in the photo when you really look at it. I love the deep color of blue in the water . The picture really is beautiful.

I really enjoy looking at this photo. It makes me wish i was there. This picture is very clear & crisp. I love the fact that the water is very calm. The coloring is very well. However, i don't really like the angle of the boat in the picture, and also how the boat is squished into the picture.

I really like this photo. The angle of the photo is great. The color of the water is so clear, this would be in an advertisement for the company. I really don't like the added clouds, there is just too many clouds and it doesn't look real.JMSPHS

This is a great photo. It looks so perfect it could be a post card. The sky looks great, even though they were put in. The angle at which the boat is and the angle which the photo was taken are great. This is a wonderful photo.

This picture is crisp and great. Even though it looks pretty professional, the clouds that you made are noticeable in a pattern over the ship. The lines really help you move along the ship. Great job.

Travel brochure status is what this picture is. You used natural light which is great and the angle you chose to capture the “mightiness” of the cruise ship is exceptional. The clouds in the sky look like they’re painted and the water is so blue. I really love how the ship sort of leads the eye from the right of the picture to the left. Cool picture.

This is an amazing photo. It would perfect for a post card. I love the crystal clear blue water, and how the clouds are opening to a bluer sky. I really like the angle you took the photo, and this is a nice job of fill the frame. The editing of the clouds could have been better, and I don't think the water would of been a bright shiny blue with overcasting clouds. Overall it was a good photo.

I really like this picture. The colors look great, especially the color of the water. I also like how well the yellow boats contrast with the water. I really like the angle you took the picture at. You did a great job of filling the frame. The only thing I don't like is the editing of the clouds. There is a big spot on the sky where it is a lot clearer than the rest of the sky. It is right above the ship on the middle -right part of the picture. It is obvious that it was edited, but I still like the picture a lot. Good job.

i really like he colors on this picture. they really add to the photo. i like how the water changes colors and gets green from the reflection of the boat. i do think that the clouds don't look real. im not sure if it was something you were going for or its just how it turned out. i still think it is a nice picture. i like the angle that the boat is in.

I think this photo is very good. I like the composition and the clouds, however the clouds appear to be added in. It looks sort of like a brush preset possibly. I do like the ship and the water is pretty. I imagine i would see this sort of photo in a boating magazine which is good. I think you should just fix the choppyness of the clouds and it will be perfect.
