Appalachian Sping

Contributed by L Newport

I took this picture at Aldridge Gardens for my 'spring' assignment. I made a hue/saturation adjustment, then added another hue/saturation layer that was less saturated and played with the opacity until I found the blend I liked. I then made an exposure and curves adjustment, and ran a smart sharpen filter.

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! This picture is so pretty. I love the blues and greens reflecting in the water and then the brown trees to contrast it. The white blooms give this picture such a calm and peaceful feel. The sunlight coming from behind the shot to illuminate everything is so gorgeous. I also like how the slanted branch crosses in front of the four straight up and down trees. AMAZING SHOT!

oh, LAUREL! You are just so precious and your picture is BEAUTIFUL! I love all the vibrant colors throughout the photo and I love how the green and blue blend! The contrasting brown and white flowers just seem to pop and stand from the blending colors around them. The limbs of the tree lead the eyes to every point in the photo! You always do an awesome job!

This photo is great! I like how you first study the trees but then you start to notice the beautiful water behind the trees. The flowers stand out beautifully and the colors work really well together. Even though there are no leading lines except for the trees- your eye seems to be held on the picture for quite some time. Good job.

This photo is outstanding! It caught my attention when i lay my eyes on it. I like how everywhere you look you see that everything blends ad how the colors work well together to look so vibrant. The way the flowers just pop out of everything else is amazing. I somehow look at the branch at the middle, the one across the two trees first o.o'. The position where the photo was taken from was a great choice(couldn't have done it better my self :]). I also liked the background of the water and its reflection it added a greater effect to the scene. This is a beautiful way to show our mother nature. Overall this picture was a great one! keep up the great work! :) -MC SPHS

Not to be redundant or anything, but this photo is really amazing! The colors are great, I especially love the intensity of them against the brown-orange tones of the tree trunks. Your composition is good, I like how there are three trees, which help to bring balance to your photo. I also like how there is depth in your photo, I'm not always thrilled with the ones that make your eye stop. Good Job!

The colors in this image are beautiful. I love how crisp the focus is on the branches and petals. This picture is very pretty. I think you picked a good angle to take the picture from; i don't think another angle would have done the image justice. This picture has a good balance of shadows and highlights, which is super cool, and its brightness feels very real.

this is such a pretty photo. You captured these at just the right time of year and i love the composition. I feel like its crowded with the trees which really adds to the photo. I love the colors and i think this is a great representation of spring photography.

I love the springy feel of this shot, and the contrast of colors. The water looks so serene behind the trees and the blue and green tones are reminiscent of nature. You did a good job editing this shot and it is an overall good shot.
