Bottletree

Contributed by K Thagard

I took this picture downtown at a place that was close by Bottletree. I like this image because the subject of the picture is the staircase, but the graffiti on the wall brings some extra and gives it a little more pah-zaz! I ran a curves/levels adjustment on the image, and cropped a little of it.

This picture is awesome! The color is so masterfully utilized throughout, especially the sharp contrast between the graffiti and the urban landscape. I don't know if you enhanced the color of the wall and detracted the color of the stairs and background, but this contrast really makes the image. Also, the way the wall curves leads the viewers eye straight to the actual subject, another effective aspect of this photo. Great job!

I like the colour scheme in this shot, along with the composition. I like how you followed the rule of thirds with the wall. The stairs and the building in the backround look a little off centred though, but other than that it's a great shot!

This is a really neat shot. I like your idea of trying to get the two walls in the shot and I think that taking it from the end of either wall would’ve been great. I would’ve liked to see more of the graffiti wall just because it looks so colorful and attractive to the eye but I think that the fact that you only included a side view of it sort of adds to the suspense. I like that you can see a little bit of the yellow paint on the ground because it sort of wraps up the color in the picture. The wall in front looks sort of barren and forgotten but then the graffiti wall looks full of life and happy. Very, very cool shot.

Interesting picture. I like the contrast of the colorful wall compared to the plain wall; however, the colorful wall does detract a bit from the staircase. The wall does a good job of leading the eye to the back of this picture, but it also draws the eye away from the rest of the image.

The photo looks great! I really love the brown wall and then the graffiti it creates a lot of contrast due to the darkness of the walls and street. The colors from the graffiti is my favorite part of this photo though. Nice photo. AR-SPHS

This is a sweet photo! I really like how everything in the photo except for the wall on the right is boring and plain. The way you captured this image is awesome. I think that cropping it and running a curves/levels adjustment really added to this image. The exposure and contrast are great. A suggestion would be to take the photo at more of an angle just so it would not just be straight on. Good job!

I think this photo is really neat. It’s simple, but it’s got a lot of creativity in it. The staircase looks like it’s just from some empty ally way, but the graffiti really draws the viewer in. I think it shows that there’s a story behind the picture. It’s quite intriguing. I like how bright the colors on the graffiti are; they add a good contrast in the colors of the photo as a whole. I think this was a good shot :)

I think the coloring in here looks really cool. All the bright colors look cool with the brown building. I also like that how the building looks abandoned. I think you did a good job.

Cool!! This picture is really neat!!! I love how the graffiti really stands out from the dullness of the front wall. It feels in for the front wall. I like this picture good job!! MLSPHS

I think your picture is really neat! I love how the picture is simple except for the graffiti wall which captures your attention. The graffiti wall also adds a lot of contrast to the picture. The stair case looks neat to because it appears to be at the end of an alley way and then you see the graffiti wall. Good Job! I really like your picture.

this image has a nice color for the background, and then leads your eyes with the blurred transition of colors that are there together on the right wall.I also like the way the ground looks as well

I really like this picture, but I feel like there is too much going on. The staircase is in the center, so it should be the main point of interest, but then I see the black window in the background and I’m instantly drawn to that. And the wall is a bit distracting. It would’ve been cool to see more of it. Overall, good job.

The color contrast in this shot is amazing! I love the urban city-like feel it gives off. The brown wall is kind of neutral which compliments the colorful wall next to it. I like the composition and angle of this photo. Great job overall!

This is a really interesting photo and I love the bright colors of the wall but how it is not the center of the shot. The perspective works well because the stairs are the subject but it makes the viewer look down the wall to get to it. I like how clear this photo is and the intensity caused by the contrast between the colorful part and the wall. Nice job!

I like how it seems to be a normal building until you see the other side. I can see the element of rule of thirds being used. I like how the back wall is in perfect focus, even though you want people to catch the graffiti on the other wall. To me, this picture says that everything can have a wild side.

I like the colors in this picture and the lighting. I also like that it fills in the frame but yet its not too close up to the subject.

This photo is so interesting. I love how there is full color on one side and just grey on the other. It’s like you could just walk into the wall and go into a whole different world! I also like that you can’t fully see the colored wall. It keeps us guessing of what lies on the other side.

I like this picture because my eyes were directly drawn to the color on the wall at the right of the frame. When you first look at the picture you see the color but then when you look towards the rest of the picture and you see kind of how dull the steps are. I think the graffiti on the wall is a nice burst of color to make this picture brighter.

I really like the color contrast in this photo. The straight on plain shot of the stairs seems quite boring, but when you see the colorful graffiti wall it changes the whole shot. The distinction from the stairs to the wall really gives a feel to how the city is and looks like. Great picture!

I like how this photos lighting is and how they captured the graffiti on the way, but I think they should have gotten a better angle on the graffiti so you could see it more and make out what it was of. The element of composition looks like it was intended to be leading lines, the staircase steps leading to the graffiti wall. The lighting is ok here; it could have been a little more evened out though.
