Contributed by L Hooks I took this photo for the spring assignment. I did a color correction and adjusted the contrast. My Portfolio

It's a good picture for the spring assignment. Only thing i would choose to change would be the off red color to the left of the yellow thing. But either way its a pretty good picture. Also, you took the picture very well, the background is blurred while the subject is nice and crisp.
The colors in this picture are so pretty! I like how the lines on the petals radiate out from the center. they create a really nice focal point in the center of the flower. I like how the flower is off center and the stamen is really sharp and in focus. I wish the flower was more in focus though- it almost seems to be part of the background because they are both not in focus.
I really like this photo LEAH! I love the spring vibe i get when i look at this flower and at the same time, it feels calm and relaxing. One of my favorite things about this shot is the blurred center of the flower. I love how the stem thingy is in focus but is base it not. I think that adds a LOT to it. Also i like how you can make out the lines on the petals around the edge and then it blurs towards the center. I think this is one of the best photos you have taken.
What a great picture! I like this picture because pink is my favorite color! I also love the pop of yellow from the center of the flower. I think it was a good choice to focus on the center, other than the petals. The definition of this photo is great too!
The composition of this picture is very good. The yellow part of the flower stands out due to the blurring of the background. The Petals surrounding the center also help to draw people's eyes to the stem. The little pollen things stick out from the stem also help to add a neat effect coming out of the blurriness and into focus. Good photograph. ZD SPHS
I love this photo. Everyone knows that I'm a stickler for flower photos. You may have seen one of my past photos simply Titled: "flowers from a fellow". It was a wonderful piece. Anywho, I love the pink color of this flower. The background is very muted and shows a lot of contrast against the vibrant pink deliciousness of this newly fertilized flower. The thistle of the flower looks aromatic and breath-taking. It is such a wonderful shade of orange yellow. I also love how the inside of the flower is blurred to and fro. It shows depth and god knows i love depth in photos. Leah Hooks, this is a great photo and I think you should continue your work till you have an entire book collection of these wonderful flower photos. Thanks. Sincerely.
You definitely chose a great subject for this photo. The color is perfect for the assignment and i love how you composed it so the flour is leading your eye in all directions. However, I believe it would have been a much more effective picture if you had either greatened the depth of field to include the whole flower or only have the center part in focus.
I think this shot is really incredible. It really stays true to the assignment and is exactly how Spring should be represented. It also appeals to a deeper emotion rather than whats on the surface. I think how the flower blooms off center and pulls the viewer in immediately. I like how there is also some depth to the photo. The middle of the flower almost brings the viewers eye in toward the center and around the petals. Great job and i love the color here!
I love the pink color in this photo! I also like that the yellow thing is in focus and the rest of the flower is pretty much out of focus. I kind of wish the dark pink was in focus, I think that would really add something to it, but over all it is a great photo! Good job! LM-SPHS
This is a great picture. The colors are great; I like how they are kind of faded. The yellow thing in the middle is cool and I like how it's the main focus of the photo. I think its cropped in perfectly. There is just enough background.
This is a great subject. The flower has a lot of nice lines that keep your eye moving. The flower creates great contrast with the green, and the focus is well corrected. I like how the stem is in focus, and the little buds coming out are really cool. The only suggestion I have would be to get the whole flower in focus. TC-SPHS
This is a stunning shot of a hibiscus flower. I love hibiscus and used to live on Hibiscus St in Hawaii. Your shot does the flower justice and is really beautiful and vibrant. I like the DOF and your focus point as the soft focus on the petals makes the stamen the subject. It helps that the tip of the left petal is also sharp as it helps move my eye away and back to the showy stamen. Your crop is also well thought out. Great shot!
This is a great shot. I love the colors in it. You also cropped the picture perfectly. I think the focus is the best part though. It's great how the petals are out of focus except for the left edge. It really helps move my eye around the shot. Overall, this is a great summer shot of a hibiscus. - TW
The color in this photo is really nice. I like how the veins (?) in the petals lead you into the middle of the flower. I also like how the edges of the flower is blurry and the stem thing in the middle is sharp showing that the stem thing stands out. Also the background color helps bring out the color in the picture because it doesn't fight with the color. i think that the center of the flower is really red. ~ESO
This is a really nice picture. The colors are awesome and contrast well. The lines in the flowers really draw your eye. The subject is in focus, very nice, while the background is blurred. This is a really good photo of this flower and i really like it. TP-SPHS
This has got to be my favorite flower picture of all time! I really love everything in this picture, from the contrast in colors, to the perfect focus, to the wonderful cropping. This is just a fantastic shot!
I think this is a great picture. The angle and crop of the photo make the flower more dynamic and interesting. The focus of the image is cool. I like how the middle of the flower and the background are blurry, and then the petals become more concrete and crisp. The colors are great; I think you did a fantastic job fixing the brightness and colors. This is a great picture; it's very pleasing to the eye.
This picture rocks. The DOF is so perfect and works so well. Just to nitpick, I'm going to say that the highlights are a little blown out, but I'd still give it a 10/10. Great great job.
This picture first grabs my attention due to the vivid colors. I really like the focus. It directs my attention to the yellow part of the flower. I think this is what the photographer was going for, because the rest is out of focus. Usually in flower pictures, the emphasis is on the petals, and it is nice to see a change of perspective. The lines on the petals give it a great linear perspective. I also enjoy how the flower is not perfectly centered. The only thing that i would change would be sharpening the red spot in the center of the petals. Overall, i really enjoy the picture, and it is pleasing to the eye. Good job! CE- SPHS
This picture is extremely beautiful. I love everything about it. The color of the flower is amazing. I also like how the picture is focused only on the flower and shows every detail of the flower.

Flower from a fellow.
This picture is amazing. I love the composition; great crop! The color is very vibrant, which sets off the "Spring-y" feel. Great Jorb!
