Doorknob

Contributed by T Hemby

I took this photo for my Windows and Doors in Andalusia, Alabama. All i did to it was a levels adjustment. I liked the way it turned.

This old, worn down, and weathered doorknob is legit. The way the wood is starting to decay and the rust covering the door knob makes me think of an era long gone. The way the keyhole is tilted and falling off is cool. I think the lighting is great for the mood, which I think is kind of a depressed mood brought on by the dilapidation. Good picture.

I like the rustic old time feeling to the picture i think that it's like taking a picture of another time that is gone. I think that the lighting is really good for the mood of the picture. I like the way the keyhole and door knob are placed on the door that is splintered and wheathered.

This is a cool picture. I love how worn out the door handle is and how the door is starting to decay. The lock is even crooked and the window pane is torn. I like to think that it symbolizes that so many people have entered and exit the door that its beginning to wear down; and the door cant be locked cause it is broken so people cant help but enter. This picture is so simple but yet has such a cool meaning and effect. The rust color of the door knob looks great with the faded door and dirty glass panels. Also, i love how you made an effort to incorporate each piece of hardware and piece of the door; the glass panel, knob, and door itself. Neat shot!

I really enjoy looking at this photo. Looking at it makes me think that there is a story behind all of it. The rusty knob, the twisted key hole, the chipped paint, and the curved roof in the background all make me imagine that this is a country house that has been abandoned or very badly taken care of. I support your decision to use the levels adjustments an believe they turned out perfect. It really gives a very gloomy feel to the picture. However, to make this picture more interesting, I think you should have shifted the door knob a little to the right in order to get more of a background. Other than that terrific photo and I look forward to seeing more from you. PT-SPHS

I love how the keyhole is about to fall off and the look it gives off makes me think about how old it could be. Its a depressing mood but at the same time its telling a story. This is an amazing picture. O.W. SPHS

I really like how the brass doorknob stands out against the silver almost metallic door. The lighting is very distinct and adds a weathered feel to the overall picture. The reflection in the window panes is very captivating and overall i think the shot is a very good photo.

This photo really caught y attention. The implied lines created and the angle of the key hole allow for an interesting perspective. I also like the old time feel of the photo. It really sets apart the photo. I also like the position of the doorknob. it follows the rule of thirds. Good job. ATP SPHS

I really like this photo. The old look is very interesting. The angle of the key hole gives the picture a unique look. Very well done.

I really like how you zeroed in on the door knob and key, I think the tight focus of it gives it better detail, and also shows how old this door really is.

I really love the rust on the door nob against the gray door and the worn out look; it looks real.
This picture really brings me back and makes me wonder what the door looked like brand new. The window makes me wonder what is reflecting off of it.
Overall it's a very nice photo.

I think this is a great photograph. I love look of worn down objects that look artistic. I loved how the reflection of the background was shown on the window. I also love the way the keyhole is a bit crooked. It has a bit of a nostalgic view to it.

I really like this photo. It has an old time feel to it. I think it would be even better if it was in sepia or black and white.

I love the rusted look on this doorknob. This picture caught my eye out of all the pictures on the page. I liked how you adjusted the levels, but I do have some suggestions. First i would of moved the doorknob more so to the right and added a reflection of the background into the window. Also, I would have made the picture black and white other than the reflection in the window. Overall I think this picture is awesome.

When i first saw this picture, i though that it was a drawing or painting of some sort. It took me a second to realize that it was actually a photograph. I think this picture has a story behind it. I like the way the keyhole is off centered, and tilted. This gives me the impression that the door has been through a lot. It makes the picture more exciting because it is not perfectly symmetrical. I've been looking at it for a while now, and I am still noticing new things. For example, the clouds in the reflection of the window part of the door are very interesting. You can also see the outline of a tree. The rusty crimson color of the knob really brings the photo full circle and makes it a great photo. Good job!

This picture is really cool and interesting. What I get makes me want to see what the door leads in to. The color and lighting is good for the mood of the picture. Also, it's very sharp, good focus on the doorknob, it's contrasting color also makes it really stand out. Good photo.

I like how the mood is portrayed in this picture. How gloomy and grey the colors are. I also like how old and rustic the handle, window and key hole is. It really tells a story.

I think this photo is very interesting and i like the antique look it has. I like the way that the keyhole is tilted at an angle because it adds a an edge to the photo. If i had to give a critique i would say that the doorknob could be at a different spot i the photo (like Rule of Thirds).

this picture makes me very curious. I really want to know what is behind the door and what the house looks like. You can tell the door has a story; countless people have opened that door. I really like the bluish tent the whole photo has. Great picture!

This is a really interesting shot. The little grey details on the door really stand out for some reason. The door looks really old and probably has been abandoned for years. It’s really nice that you took a picture this way. This is a really simple shot but it seems complex when you look at it. VD-ERHS
