Zebra Feather

Contributed by L Young

I took this picture in my living room. I really like the different contrast and how the focus is directed toward the pattern in the feather. Before I snapped the shot, I had to wait for the camera to focus, and it ended up blurring out the background, which was the rest of the plant.

I agree. It's an interesting pic. I wouldn't say that contrast is the correct word, but I can still see what you mean. Not only is the pattern intriguing, but the darks throughout the picture make the eye wonder around, and deep into the photo. Great composition. Nice color scheme. Only thing that bothers me is the green plant that is in the top right-hand corner. It seems like that has more definition(more focused) than the rest of the background and tends to distract a bit. Would try fixing that using some type of blur. Cool job. -RAC, SPHS

I like the hard focus on the feather. It brings the attention to the feather at first, then the other colors pull you into the larger picture. I like the green and brown colors its a nice earthy feel.

I think this is a great photo! I love how there is a distinct line going diagonally from the top left corner to the bottom (aka the feather). The accidental blurred background is great and makes the feather stand out that much more. I also like how the main image (the feather in focus) is off center; it makes for an interesting piece. I had no clue what this was a photo of until i read the comment from "L.Young" saying that it was taken in the living room. I finally figured it out and I have to say that this is a really cool viewpoint of what the image is really of.

I like the pattern on the feather and how this picture shows the texture of the feather.

This is a cool picture! The focus on the feather makes the picture a lot better than if there was not a specific focus. It might also look good if a bit more of the feather was in focus. I do think that the green takes away from the subject because it is distracting.

The depth of feel was amazing really adds to the picture. with out that time you waited then this picture would of never have been as artistic as it is. sphs th

I like how the backround is blurry and it just shows the object in front. I really like the contrast of colors. I agree with Roberto, the green plant on the side is very distracting. Other than that, the picture is nice, I'm fascinated by these types of pictures. :)

I like it. This type of photography is not easy to "get it right" your shot has a nice pallet and the shallow depth of field is making your subject stand out. Your subject is worthy as it has great detail. I am also a sucker for feathers.
Good call on the green Roberto.
You could desaturate that area to help keep it from distracting.
Thanks for adding to our blog!

The camera blurring the background ended up doing you a favor I believe. It added much more emphasis on the feather. At the top right corner of the photograph the leaf isn't blurred out at all, but I like that in a way. Great work.

I really like this picture because the focus on the feather is really great. The pattern on the feather really stands out and the background really helps accentuate that.

I like this picture because the focus of the zebra feather that is in focus and the background that is not in focus really brings the eye to the subject... the zebra feather. I was unaware of the existence of a 'zebra feather' but this is a really cool picture of something that I did not know existed.

This is a really cool photo. Even though you said you didn't exactly mean for the background to be blurred, it makes the focus on the feather stand out that much more. The pattern on the feather is interesting. Very cool that you took that in your living room!

This photograph is really pretty. I like how the feather is the main focus and everything is else is a bit blurry. The colors of the feather really stand out even though they are dark. The leaves are a bright green, but it doesn't take away any focus from the feather.

This photo is really interesting to look at with the colors and the patterns. It’s not too busy, and the picture really pulls you in. I like how the clear the focus was done on the feather and the blurred out background. The texture is magnificent!

I really like this picture a lot. It has a lot of wonderful colors that are a good contrast to blend. I like how you focused on one this and make everything else blur out.

I like the picture a lot it shows how to give something the up close view awhile the other is in the background faded and the feather would be a cool way to polka dot feathers if I liked polka dotted feathers.
