Pep Rally

Contributed by C Reeves

I took this picture in the Senior section at the black out the bucs peprally. I think this picture captures how awesome the pep rally really was. I took the picture without the flash so I could capture how the glow sticks looked from my viewpoint. There was not much to change on this picture; I adjusted the contrast a bit, but that was all.

That was a fun pep rally and your image captures it pretty well. Better then most of the ones I took myself. I like that yours has the one big light on the right that can act as a subject.

I really like how the glow sticks look in this, blurred and crazy. This was a perfect time for a shot too, great job, love the viewpoint and the depth of field. - SPHS W.H.

I LOVE this photo!!! It really shows exactly what the pep rally looked like. Every color in the photo is bright and defined. I also like how this photo shows movement and you can tell that when the image was captured there was a lot going on!

This is an awesome photo,so bright and colorful and great contrast. Such an opportune day to shoot. You captured the excitement perfectly. My eye is directly drawn to the larger object then the red and then my eyes just shift into the background, great flow.

This a really neat and interesting photo. It captures a very entertaining memory; the picture tells a story for me since i was involved in the pep rally. I like all the bright colors of the glowsticks and the contrast of bright to dark. I also like how the motion in the picture create a cool effect that draws the eye in to the big long line of color.

This is an amazing photo!!!! The colors really pop and give a great amount of color and contrast to the all black background. That pep rally was really fun though.....it really was a BLAST!!!!!! love how you caught the motion blur of all the lights and glow-sticks.

This picture really captures the craziness and spontaneity of the pep rally. I tried in one of my pinhole photographs to have the subject blurred but it didnt work out too well. I also think the smaller glow sticks in the lower left hand corner help create a good depth of field. MB. SPHS.

This is a really cool photo. The contrast of all the colors and lights really makes the shot interesting. The picture is so busy and fun that my eyes don't focus on one particular thing. I like how you used the rule of thirds to make the big blue and yellow light stand out. > MH SPHS

This is a really cool photo, and I like that I was part of it! The contrast between the black background and the brightly colored lights is really what makes this picture. Even though the lights were really random, your picture still feels balanced tanks to the subject on the right. The picture helps capture the feel of the fun pep rally!

"You kids & your crazy pep rallies! Back in my day, a simple pie in the face of the administration made for a great pep rally! My how things have changed!"
Seriously though, I really like the stop-motion used in this photo- I think it really brings some of the life of the pep rally into the photo, & makes the viewer feel as though they were there! Great Job!

This was such a great pep rally and your photo captures the excitement perfectly! The crazy bright lights allow the eye to wonder through out the picture, taking in every detail. I love the contrast between the black and the bright lights. It makes the lights almost jump out at you. This picture draws you in and it feels as if you were there! Although, i feel the red light on the left is a little distracting because it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the photo. Overall a great photo of an amazing pep rally!

This picture is really great! I love how all you can really see are the glow sticks! It almost looks like floating lights, which definitely contrast with the dark background! Very cool! Good job!

The use of color, and effects in this picture is pronounced. The blur in some of the images make the action in the picture seem to come too live right of the page. The black back round adds to the light effect,, there even are certain shapes you can see in the light.

I like the way this picture looks. A blend of lights of many many different colors. I also like the way the shape of each light is different, not the same. It makes the picture more interesting. I am surprised from the blurs of the lights. Plus this Pep Rally was the best of all Pep Rallies. Great pic

This picture is really neat. It has a really unique feel to it; almost circus like. I love all the bright and different colors in it. Good use of a slow shutter speed, it really shows the motion and how much energy there was at the pep rally. Maybe if there would have been some faces in the picture, it would have been better—that might not have been possible with the shutter speed though. All in all good picture.

I really like this picture. My eyes are directed everywhere within the photo. The colors stand out and are very lively. I also like how the glow sticks are blurry. What is the red in the photo? I cannot tell what it is. Probably a glow stick but it doesn't look like anyone is holding it. Excitement builds up when I see this photo. The pep rally was very exciting and looking at this photo reminds me of it.

Very cool! I like how it's dark, yet you still have a decent depth of field. You can still kind of make out the shapes of people. The motion blur on the glow sticks works very well. Good job.

I like this picture because all you can really see are the lights from all the glow sticks you really cant see the people who are holding the lights. All the glow sticks provide enough light that you don’t need a flash or any extra lights in the background. This picture kind of makes me want to go to a rave.

The reason why i like this photo the best is because i like the way the colors glow in the dark its kinda showing excitement from the seniors. I like the yellow and blue colors the most especially the one at the top because it spreads out like a wave and it looks cool. The photo really captures the moment.

I enjoyed your picture. I wish our pep rallies were like this at all. You really capture the excitement of what was going on. The mix of blurs and focus are fantastic. One of my favorite pictures I’ve reviewed.

This picture is amazing mostly because I was right in the middle of the moment. I looked at the photo and the pep rally just reentered my mind. The colors and the slight focus on the large blur of the blue is good and my eye is also caught by the one red light on the left.

The shutter speed was excellent. This picture really seems to capture the excitement and the energy that was happening in the scene. And the rule of thirds was used too and I think that adds a great element to the photo.
