Tree by the Sea

Contributed by A Wierzbicki

This is one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. I took this in the Keys at Bahia Honda State Park. I love the sharp, deep colors of blue and how the tree stands out against the whole ocean.

This is a great picture. The vanishing point in the sea is fantastic and well thought out. Makes you think about how incredibly huge the ocean is compared to that little tree all by itself. The depth is impressive, great job. - SPHS W.H.

I really like this picture because this picture has good aperture also has good main object and picture itself is vivid.

I really like this picture. I think it is incredibly detailed and sharp. The color contrast is perfect and I just thinks it's an overall photo. The deep blue colors of the sky and sea really make this photo stand out and I think it also has a great vanishing point. I also like how the focus is to the left of the picture (the tree is not centered). I am wondering if you edited this at all or if you just snapped it and it turned out this great. Really really good job; I would def. have this hanging on my wall! :)

i really like this photo. i like the all the different variations of blue. it was a pretty day to take this photo. it was a good idea to take the picture where you did as well. it makes the tree stand off to the side and it gives us a great view of the sky and ocean.

I do like the blue of the ocean and the sky and how you can see the horizon that splits the water and sky. The tree does stand out and makes it look a lot better because with out the tree the photograph would be plain.

I think that this is a beautiful picture. I like how the sky and the ocean blend together. I like how it has the 1/3 proportions. I like the tree on the far left side of the picture.

I love this picture! The scene is simply beautiful. I feel like i am there. The tree is so bare and rigid that it compliments the ocean and the color of the sky. The blues are very deep in this picture. There is even several different shades of blue which adds more depth. I like how you can even see the ripples in the sea and how it gradually flows onto the rocks. The ocean looks like it blends into the horizon which is sweet. The colors are very sharp and crisp and adds a neat effect. The clouds even look cool how they are dispersed and spread over the sky. The tree really stands out against the rest of the picture, making it the focal point. I really love this picture overall. Very nice!

This is a really neat picture! I like the different shades of blue in the ocean and the sky. If you look on the right side of the picture in the ocean, it has a very calm tone, and if you look at the tree on the left, it has kind of an abandoned look. I also like how the eye is immediately draw to the tree. The viewpoint in which the photo was taken is very neat.

I really like this photo. The colors are very rich and vibrant. It's cool how the sky just blends into the sea. The tree is a strong and interesting subject. There is good use of the rule of thirds by making the horizon below the center of the page and placing the tree on the left third vertical line. >MH SPHS

I enjoy your photo. It’s a very dream-like picture that just sticks out and says LOOK! The focus is really nice and just the clouds. Man this one made me happy. Everything stands out beautifully. Going to say it again: I really enjoyed your photo.

This picture is really cool!!! The picture is really clear. The sky is very blue and blends in with the horizon of the ware. It's just one of my new favorite photographs!

This image is extremely interesting due to its subject and the background that comes with it. You did a good job with moving the tree to the left of the image instead of centering it, and the wide ocean scene on the right side of the image provides an interesting depth. The tree was a good subject, with its bare branches and bleakness that stands out past the blue shades of the sky and ocean. I'm not even entirely sure if this would help, but cropping a little bit of the right might help fill the frame, and if you are interested in enhancing the photo digitally, you could bring out the colors of the grass and sky to give it an even brighter feel. Good job on this picture.

I really like how many shades there are of blue, and how the tree pops out, and i really like how the rocks and the grass looks together. And i think the land in the back really brings it all together. I would maybe make the land in the back softer but other then that its an amazing picture.

This picture is really good. I like how you didn't center the tree. It gives a nice view of the full ocean next to the desolation of the dead tree. Very nice work.

The photo is a beautiful photo, All of the colors look amazing, even though the tree has no leafs it still looks beautiful in the picture, the sky is amazing, water , and the rocks by the tree look incredible. A well done photo.

Wow. The colors in this picture are amazing! I love how all the colors just pop and are really bright! I also like how the tree stands out from everything else. I like the contrast it is creating! The only thing I don't really like about this picture is how the rocks under the tree look a little blown out and are distracting. Other than that I really like this image! Good job!

this picture is very pretty. The blues from the ocean and sky kinda blend in the back, then you have a bare tree that kinda makes it feel cold & wintery. Really nice picture!

I really like this photo. This is a really good use of the rule of thirds. You put your subject, the tree, in the left third of the picture so that it becomes focused. I also like the intense color changes within the picture. It goes from the brown of the tree to the different shades of blue to the deep green of the grass. However you might want to make the horizon and sky have more of a break. They seem to blend near the right of the picture. Good picture overall. Keep it up. ATP SPHS

This is a really good picture. I like how the picture almost looks fake because of how high the picture quality is. Everything in the picture is really clear, and you can see every detail in the tree and the rocks around it. I also like how there is nothing on the tree which allows me to look through it. I don't really like how the water has nothing in it, it might have been better is you had taken the picture closer to the tree to fill the frame. The water gives me kind of an empty feeling about the picture. But over all the picture is really good.

I love this picture! It looks like it was taken by a professional photographer! I also love how everything looks so touchable as well. The color contrast in this picture is great, from a glowing white of the rocks to the rich green color of the grass. I also love the different shades of blue in the sky and in the ocean.

This picture is awesome! I love the deep blue color and how the sky blends in with the water. I also like how you used the rule of thirds so that your subject is off center. It makes the picture unique and gives visual interest. Overall great job!

Tree by the sea is a great example of a landscape photo. The subject matter is very chill and shows a great focal point. The leading lines in the sky and sea lead to the tree. P.O.

I love the contrasting colors of the white rocks and the dark tree to the blue sky and ocean. I also like that everything in this picture stands out very well. Being able to see the little details like the ripples in the water add so much to the picture.

I really like this picture! I agree about the sharp blue colors of the ocean in contrast with the tree. The composition is really well done also. I feel that if the tree had been any more to the right, it would have taken away from the ocean, and the impact would not have been as breath taking. Good job!

I was scrolling down the list and this picture happened to catch my eye. This picture looks amazing right from the get go. I love the effect of the clouds with the lighting of the trees. I like how the road seems to fade into the background. great pic! A.M. - SPHS

I love this picture! It looks so peaceful, and relaxing. It reminds me of one of those pictures that come on all computers for the desktop background. I like how the sky and the ocean are two different shades of blue, but as they get farther towards the vanishing point they almost seem to start looking more like the same color. The fact that the tree has no leaves makes me think that it is winter time, and the branches of the tree make it seem like the tree is very old. Overall i love this picture, and i want to visit. Great job!

I really like the brightness of the blues. Also using the rule of thirds with the withering tree looks really amazing. The focus is flawless and the lighting is well done. Looking at this picture makes me miss the white sandy beaches in Florida.

Really pretty picture. Good use of rule of thirds element for the photo, how the tree is off to the left. I like how the colors are a really vibrant blue and as the sky is farther away the more the color fades.

This picture is very simple; but I love it. It really shows how plain nature can be so beautiful. I like how you got the opening and vastness of the ocean, but you also left the tree in on the side, good rule of thirds. I also like the coloring in the picture. The majority of it is blue but the tree and the rocks catch the viewer’s eye because it’s something different.

Hmmm... 44 comments! that must be a record for the blog. Obviously your image has some appeal, so congrats on a good job. I am a little surprised that nobody has pointed out that the image needs to be rotated a bit. Horizons, especially water, should be horizontal and not run downhill.

Wow this picture is great! The sky and the ocean really transition smoothly. The photo gives off a real good sense of tranquility. The tree helps complete the picture, and makes for a great subject. I feel it might have been better if the green from the plants could have been left out, and that they distract from the photo.

This photo is absolutely stunning!I am amazed that this was taken by one of our own students. It is such a professional picture! All the colors are so striking the various shades of vibrant blue in the sky and the ocean, the white rock lining that separates land from water and the forest green moss peaking out of the color make this image so incredibly vivid. The tree becomes this focal point , very gray and with intricate winding branches. It makes a statement all its own in this picture.

This picture makes me have a really cold feeling. Like something is among the horizon or something. And that blue sky is just breathtaking. I also like that the tree is more to the edge so we can see the water.

This is beautiful!!! I love how the different shades of blues in the sky and the ocean blend well together and then the dark color of the tree stands out more. Also, good use of the rule of thirds. Another thing I like about this photo is how the shape of the tree branches stand out against the sky and the clouds.

I think the colors are extremely beautiful and the rule of thirds with the tree makes it even better.

The picture is so tranquil, beautiful and peaceful. The concept is absolutely perfect. What really stands out to me though is the stark blue colors of the picture and how they contrast with their surroundings. Also great job on filling in the frame, it does not look like there is any wasted space.

I really like the sharp intensity of the colors and how the tree is almost silhouetted against the intense sky. the horizon line creates and interesting feel of depth and the position of the tree causes the eye to direct instantly toward it.
