Bright Leaf

Contributed by H Hall

I took this picture at Aldridge Gardens. It was the only yellow leaf and it was lying on a dark green tree branch. To edit this image I did a curves adjustment, cropped it, and adjusted the contrast. Let me know what you think!

11/12/09. SPHS blog. Bright leaf. This is a really cool picture. The contrast between the leaf and the background (the clarity of the leaf and blur of the background) really brings that subject into focus. I also noticed that you did a good job of using "fill the frame" to get a good look at your subject. MB. SPHS.

I like the color in the photo. The bright yellow stands out so much against the dark background and the small hints of green and brown add a lot to it. I think that the leaf is very cool looking as well. It's not perfectly shaped or anything like that, which I like so much better than pictures of leaves that have that perfect leaf shape, those are so boring. One of the leaves is even torn, and it looks beautiful.
I really do like the background for the photo, the leaves behind it are so dark, it accentuates the leaf very nicely.

i really like this photo. i like the contrast of the bright yellow leaf against the dark green leaves. i like the angle that you took the photo in also. it was a good decision to crop the photo, to make the yellow leaf the main focus of the photo. overall good work.

Im in love with the bright vibrant color of the yellow and how it really stands out next to the dark forest green. The curled edges give it great texture. The yellow at it strongest ,on the the left, acts like a sun adding light to the dark photo making it the focal point.

I love the play of color in this photo. The contrast of bright on dark makes it very interesting. Focusing the lens of the camera on the bright leaf to make the background blurry was a great idea. The leading lines on the leaf are also really cool. >MH SPHS

I love this picture of this leaf. I like the angle that you took this at. I would of changed the background to black and white and kept the leaf the color it is right now.

This is a very nice fill in the frame photo. I love how bright the leaf is compared to the blurred background.
It feels as if the leaf is talking from nature. Very beautiful.

My favorite part of this picture is the bright colors. I really like how some parts of the leaf is curling up; it shows depth in the picture. The contrast of the bright yellow and the dark green brings out the subject. The ridges of the end of the leaf shows texture to to leaf. Cool picture.

This picture is really awesome! I love how the leaf looks golden and so bright compared to the green leaves. Even though thy aren't bright, they are a pretty, rich green and give a nice background to this picture. I also like how the different parts of the leaf add length to the picture.

I love the colors in this photo. The dark background is a good choice so it’s not distracting. I like the shadow of the band part of the leaf. Good Job!

I think this is a great shot. I like the way the leaf looks against the other leaves. This leaf is so bright that the contrast looks cool against the dark leaves. I like the way this leaf is in focus and is bright and that the other leaves are dark and out of focus.

The contrasting greens and yellows are eye catching. I like how the leaf is all crinkly and torn. The lighting placement really brings out all the fall colors. I think you could have gotten in closer to the leaf. This might have made for a different look. Over all I think it gets the point of fall leaves

The leaf in this picture is really cool with how it stands out on the dark background. The color differences in the leaf really help show details of the leaf. Awesome picture.

I really like this photo. The colors of the leaf look great against the dark background. The way you cropped it is great, because the yellow leaf, the subject, holds all the attention. I also like that the subject is this torn and old leaf. It's nice that the subject isn't a pretty perfect leaf. The beauty of the changing seasons is depicted in this photo.

I really like the color of the leaf in the photo. The bright yellow stands out from the dark background. I like the background being blurry but still able to see the other green leaves. The crop is perfect because it leaves out some of the yellow leaf. There is a lot of detail and really stands out. -KS SPHS
