Face

Contributed by T Williams

This is a really interesting picture. I made the image black and white. Due to shadows, most of the fact went completely black. I then masked the b/w layer, drew over it, and ran a wave filter over that. I like it.

Alright this photos freakin sweet. The red and grey spots look awesome, and the fact that its blacked out makes it mysterious and out of the ordinary, and just plain cool. Great job on the filter, excellent job on the color, nice work with this one altogether. - SPHS W.H.

11/18/09. SPHS blog. Face. Seeing this picture, and reading about all the adjustments you made, really makes me want to learn more about working with the camera. How did you get the markings on your face? Also, the way your face just fades into black has a really cool dramatic effect. AWESOME PICTURE!MB. SPHS.

I think this photo is really unique. I love the dark shadows and the angle of the face. I like how the face looks 'painted' and abstract. I also like how the nose looks like it's own image because of the dark shadow underneath. From reading your post about the photo, it looks like you were not TRYING to make the photo look this way and it just happened as you were playing around with it. To me, that makes the photo that much better! Good Job. :)

This is a really awesome photo! the way that the face is mostly in shadow leaves a lot unknown and mysterious. the way that the subject is fully in frame helps a lot. good job! BF SPHS

This shot really reminds me of that star wars movie; the bad guy. I really think it is interesting how you were able to edit the picture in such a way that just his lower face was showing. I also think that the make up--or it might be the editing you did on the face--looks really cool and adds the story of the over all picture. Very fun picture.

The picture really reminds me of one of the characters from Star Wars, Darth Maul. I like the way his eyes are hidden. How you manipulated the photo is really impressive.

The colors on the face are cool and the designs. I think the person is sad or mad judging by the color i see on his face. I think the red represents a lot of sadness, but overall the photo is really good.

THE PICTURE LOOKS WEIRD BUT IN A GOOD WAY. IT LOOKS GOOD BECAUSE OF THE BLACK ON THE BACKGROUND AND THE ORANGE STANDS OUT. I LIKE HOW THE FACE FADES INTO THE BACKGROUND. I WOULDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING ON THIS PICTURE.

I think it is really cool what you have done with this picture, it seems like you did quite a lot to it. The colors in it make it kinda seem scary but really cool at the same time. it angle at which the picture was taken is great! I just wonder whose face it really is.. But great picture!

wow, great job on he photo. I can tell you put some work and effort into it to make it look good. Great job on the shadows, it makes the face very mysterious. Also, I like how you colored the face, it looks like the face was painted and adds to the atmosphere of the photo.

This photo is really creepy to me. But the lighting and color choice makes it look more dramatic and mysterious which is cool. The only thing I would change is maybe change the color of the lip from pink to black or red to complete the makeup look.

The contrast is absolutely fantastic in this picture. It is distinctly dark, yet I find the concept to be awesome. I also like the tilt of the face. It is not as direct. It almost looks like it is trying to hide itself in the shadows.

This photo is really interesting. It's really unrealistic, but it turned out so well. The color is really amazing, the red works so well. The shadows definitely add to the overall effect.
I really like how you can see line details on the lips. It gives the photo a more "real" feel, but still maintains that "fantasy" feeling.
The first thing I though of when I saw this, to be completely honest, was X-Men, which is one of my favorite movie series! I think the fact that you were able to create something so unreal out of something so normal like a face is extraordinary! Great job!

This is a really interesting photo. The way the blue looks against the red is really striking. I like that the face is in the shadow against the black.

I love this picture! It looks like a movie cover. He looks like he’s wearing a mask but it looks like his face at the same time. I’m speechless, awesome job. All I can say is maybe just a lighter red. It would add a little lightness because the background adds so much darkness already. -KS from RHS

i love this picture, the deep contrast in the red and black draws your eye into the picture. The gray smudges made it not too harsh. GREAT PHOTO!

This is too cool. I love how the person is sort of emerging from the shadows, and the red pattern on the skin gives it an eerie feeling. I think maybe a bit of brightness could be added to the face since the black is very strong, but this is way awesome either way. It looks like it could be a movie poster!
