MJ's Drip

Contributed by M Jones

For my drip photo I used a black and white striped cloth reflected in the water and shot with the white balance on incandescent to add the blue.
I adjusted the values with a curves adjustment, pumped up the saturation, and tweaked the color balance. I liked the color and the shot of the water before it hit.

I love this picture. It stands out in other pictures and the lighting is amazing. It’s a perfect splash and I can’t stop looking at it. All the lines of blue are awesome. Great job.

I like this picture because you can see the stripes clearly in the water. The blue is also a really nice touch. It looks like the drop hasn't even hit yet, but you can still see the ripples. I also love how crisp and clear it is, too. This was a fun project and your picture turned out great! :)

I'm very impressed. I love how you captured it perfectly in the air and how you used the black and white to make the movement stand out more. what you did with the color is great also. I really like it centered because all your attention is on the drip. fantastic!

I love this picture! Awesome timing to catch the drop like that! I really like the stripes combined with the incandescent setting. it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie somehow. Good work with the focus and filling the frame! Good job!

That's a pretty trippy photo. The blue, black, and white all look awesome. I think you did great editing without tampering with the subject in the picture.

I really like this picture. I love the color of this droplet. I like the lighting of this picture and its contrast. It love how the stripes standout and the color. It looks like the water droplet is going the opposite way.

I love the colors in the picture! and the stripe backdrop you used really makes the drip stand out a lot, but also the blue is a nice change too! And also great timing with catching when the water dropped!

This is a great picture. I like how the shot was captured just before the water was about to hit the bucket. The stripes look very cool they way they reflect and shape differently throughout the water. The color is great too, you did a great job editing it.

This picture is awesomeee. I think the way the big round water droplet is centered and everything looks really cool. I also like the black lines amongst the dark blue. It's very pretty. :)

This photo is from another world. The colors and lines are blowing my mind. The one ball of water also looks really neat and perfect, it looks like it is levetating above the pool below it. This is the best photo i've seen all year on the blogs. Great Job!!!!!!!!!!

I like this photo. I like how you got the drop right before it hit the water. I also like how you got the little drop sitting in the bowl under the other drop. I like the fact that you used white and black striped cloth as the reflective background, and then added blue to it. It really makes it look like something you would see on a water bottle or in commercial. This was a really good picture.

The picture has good ripple effect it looks like a teardrop on a jello guitar. The blue and black and ripples look psychedelic. the water droplet in the air looks like a bouncy ball.

This picture stands out a lot to me, the coloring of it, the designs in the picture, and just the whole picture. There is a lot of good contrast in this picture. It almost looks like the drip is reflecting in a weird way onto the water which looks very interesting. Great choice!

This was the first picture that has really caught my attention and kept me fascinated. I am just mesmerized by how well done this shot is. Completely calm and serene like the water itself. You show the grace and peacefulness of the water perfectly. The numerous details in the water add to the whole experience. The blue and black really bring the whole picture together. Excellent work! This photo is captivating. I love the blue, and the black and white stripes worked out really well. I also love how the stripes from the background and the ripples from the water are, in a way, fused together. Very good job!!

The color of this photo is so eye appealing. How you captured the single drop is so cool though I understand how hard that is to do. Using the drop as the main focus really keeps the eye attracted to it.

I love this picture! You made a really good selection for your background; it looks really cool. This drop is unique because you can see an actual sphere of water. I also like how the lines from the cloth make a circle that goes with the drip circle. Good job!

This is a great drip shot. I like the striped background you chose because it makes the picture look very interesting and like the water has many ripples in it. The deep blue and black have a very nice contrast. It is focused and the drip is a sphere which makes the photo eye catching. Very nice job!

I really like this picture. I love the design because they stand out really well. I also like how you got the water drop in the air and one dropping into the water.

I like this picture because the black and blue of the water makes the whole shot pop. It must have been hard to capture the water droplet in mid air like that but you did a very good job. The picture isn’t to dark and not to light either.

This picture is really well done. The color use of the bright blue and the black allows the photo to be really vivid. By filling the frame the photo becomes more effective in showing the details of a water drop. The rule of thirds is effective because the water drop is the focal point and it sightly higher than the direct middle which enhances the photo. Well DOne!

This shot is so amazing! Our class tried the same thing and this is the best I have ever seen a student do. I love the color and the pattern with in the water. The lighting is also really cool—I it’s not to dark and not to light. I also really like the simplicity of the drop. It is really remarkable how you were able to capture on perfect drop of water hovering over the puddle. I am really jealous, but good job.

This picture looks as if it was made on a computer! It’s not is it? The focus and the lighting is so amazing, it doesn’t seem real. I wish I was there when you took this picture, just to see how you did this. VD-ERHS

I like the sharp contrast between the clarity of the blues and the darker pits of the black. It is a nice juxtaposition of the two colors, and it also enhances the shape of the water droplet.

I like the color and saturated hue of the water, and also the reflection of the stripes in the water-- both give it a lot of movement. I also like the symmetry of the shot itself, it makes for a nice composition. -SPHS A.H.
