Nickel

Contributed by D Meadows

This was taken on a wooden deck for the leaves assignment. I titled it such just because I thought it looked like some Nickelback CD cover that I'd seen before... maybe not. B&W + Levels.

This picture looks very nice in black and white settings. I love how the contrast of this picture is. I like how you can see the leaf stand out. When I first took a look at this picture and saw the title of it,I thought the dark circle behind the leaf was to represent the nickel.

I really like this photo. You made a good decision by making the photo black and white. It allows for good contrast and allows the leaf to really stick out. When I first read the title I thought that the picture was a misnomer because I did not see a nickel. Then I read the description and realized what you meant when you titled it this way. I decided to look up this CD cover in order to see if you were correct. I thought that they looked similar as well so good job. I also like the leading line from the crack in the board that goes to the leaf. That adds a really cool element. Overall this is a really good photo that focuses on the subject. Good job. ATP SPHS

I love this picture in black and white settings. I really like the random leaf sitting there alone. The whole unbalanced feel of the picture is nice. It really bring your eyes around the picture.

I really like this picture in the black and white settings. It seems so natural. The contrast between the highlights and the darker parts of the picture really blend nicely to look sharp. I know what CD cover your talking about, and it does look similar! I like how the leaf is kind of crumpled, and it doesn't look staged or as you were trying to get a picture of just the leaf. The crack along side the left of the picture also adds cool depth of field. Great Job!

This picture is very interesting. I like how the picture is in black and white. It allows for the leaf to stand out.The leading lines on the wood also help the effect! The bottom part of the picture is too blurry and could have been more detail on this part of the wood. Overall, nice work! -KS, SPHS

I like this picture a lot because it is so simple. It's not overwhelming like other pictures are. I really like the leading lines that draws your attention to the leaf. I also like how the picture is focused. Nice picture.

This photo is very simplistic. It’s interesting how you can not see the details of the leaf only the shadow. The angle that you took the picture also is very appealing to the eye. The lines leading to the main point of view were well thought out and very nicely done.

The lines in this picture are really cool. I like how the lines lead up to the solitary leaf. The black and white makes a great contrast. This is a good photo.

I like this picture a lot. It definitely was a good idea in black and white. Your depth of field is very nice. Good work with the rule of thirds, too. Overall, very nice work.
