Holga Pataki

Contributed to Janie McDaniel

I took this picture with my Holga camera. I cut a square hole into a piece of paper and taped it into the inside of my camera to create an interesting border. This one is my favorite. I didn't do any editing.

I never would have thought to try this, but it produced a very interesting picture. The frame around the subject makes it feel like looking through a window. I also like that you left the plain, unsaturated colors without editing them. And the title made get all nostalgic and smiley. -JB SPHS

I like this picture a lot. I think it is very interesting picture I like the use of everyday objects to make your picture more unique. I think that the snow also adds to the picture.

I think this picture is kinda cool. The way that the paper frames the subject is nice. overall nice job! BF SPHS

The framing in this photo is awesome. The lines on the frame look like graph paper. The snowy plants by themselves would be a really pretty picture but the frame just makes new and original. I love how just pure and serene the scene is. The snow looks like it has just fallen. Snow days are great! >MH SPHS

Wow. That's the coolest picture I've seen in a long time. Really nice concept, and very cool execution. The contrast of the black and whiteness of the interior in contrast with the darkness of the outside works very well.

This is really cool! I have never seen anything like this before. I would be interested in trying something like this myself. It is very impressive that this image does not have any editing. Great job!

This is one of the coolest images I have seen in a while - I love the way the camera captures the strands of paper from where it was cut. Great idea on the paper - it adds an extremely unique aspect to the picture, and you might want to consider pursuing that idea on other pictures you take. Other than the border, I think the picture is cool - the snow does not have a dreary effect, but it works well with the border. Good job on this

This is a cool picture! I originally thought that the stuff in the frame was a piece of paper that you had torn out. I like how the frame and the framed stuff are totally different. This is a really unique photo that makes you take a second look to understand it. Good job!

This picture is so interesting and different. Adding in the paper to create a textured border was a good idea that adds variety to the picture. It doesn't look like any other picture, which is why I really like it.

This photo is very unique. I like how a frame is visible in the photo. The plants look great but almost look like a ghost. Makes me think of mysterious. I like how the contrast of the red and white come into play. Very nice job with this photo. It's really interesting and new to me.

This is an incredibly interesting shot. I love the unique approach that you took with the tape. it almost looks as if I am looking outside a window on a winter morning. The white in the photo really just works well. It is also amazing that his shot turned out so well with no editing.

I think this picture is really cool. It was a very creative idea to do the square border from a different photo. This picture leaves you feeling fresh because it's very clear and to the point. Love it.

I love the use of paper in this photo. It is something I would have never think of doing but it looks so cool. The exposure is good in the photo and I like how you can see the details on the plants. The focus in the photo is the plants but with the border it makes the eye circle the photo which is a really good trick. The lighting is a little harsh on the eyes at first because the picture contains so much white. The lines in the border do help add a little color to the photo. 4-14-10

I really like the idea of a border. It worked very well as a frame around your picture. i like how some of the colors in the picture are repeated in the fabric. You also effectively captured a lot of detail in this photograph. Nice job!

This picture really draws your eye to the border in an interesting way. It makes you think about what the border is, versus what's in the background. Great picture!
