City

Contributed by Janie McDaniel

I took this picture in New York City over the break. I took it with my 35mm camera. I think this is my favorite picture from the trip because I like the colors and composition. I didn't edit it.

That's really cool for a non edit picture but I wish there was more going on up in the sky. The sky is a bit boring, too bad a plane didn't end up in the shot. The colours remind me of something old and denigrating, it's very interesting looking.

The colors of the buildings are really cool being a raw shop without editing. In a way it looks cartoonish which is neat. The sky is kind of blank though. It seems like it could be used as a book cover with the title in the white area? haha. But anyways, great job! You always come up with the most creative pictures :)

This picture is very cool in color wise. I like the way the color of the trees and the cities are fading, and how the sky is just white and nothing else. And it is very hard to believe that this pic is not edited but its a really great pic! nice job!

This picture is really cool. I love how it has a sepia tone look to it. I also love how the picture is more taken at an upward angle instead of just a regular vertical picture. Since it was taken like that the building's stand out more with the sky, but fading at the same time.

Wow, this is an amazing picture! I actually like the fact that the sky is totally white; it makes it different than most pictures. And I can't believe its not edited, because the coloring is awesome. I agree that it would make a great book cover or even a background for a poster of some sort. Good job!

This is a fantastic picture. I can't believe you didn't edit it and it looks this good! The tint of the picture and the composition creates an antique effect which i really like. I also like how the contrast isn't super high. Nice job!

I am in love with this photo. The length of the photo is a great choice with all of that empty space at the top. It really makes you go looking for image at the bottom of it. The old vintage orange tinge to this photo is also a nice touch. A little more of the subject would have been nice. Overall i enjoy this photograph its very different.

I like the lighting that you did in this picture; it kind of looks from an old time picture. However I think that there is way too much sky in this picture and the sky is not really interesting to look at; maybe if there were some cloud or a sun. Also, there is no factor or subject in this photo that makes me think of New York City, I could be in Seattle for all I know. All I am saying is that if you would have got a picture with more architecture and thing of New York, it would have been a much better.

I think there needs to be more of the subject in the focus. If not the buildings should've stood out more to make more of an impact against the plain sky.

I like this picture. The color and rule of thirds is working really well. There's just a tad too much negative space up in the sky though. Try for a busier shot next time.

This picture would have been more interesting if there was more color to this picture. I like how its New York City. I also would like it if there was more of the city than the sky.

I really love this picture because it is so simple. I love that you didn't edit or anything! The old 'timey' looking buildings really make this picture look awesome. I love New York City, and this picture makes me so jealous that I am not there right now! Good job :)

This is a cool picture, I like the city in it. The background kind of takes up a lot of the room, could've put more of the city in it! But overall good pic!

I like the warm colors in this photo and that you only captured the tops of trees and buildings. I also like how the buildings in the photo slant down to the right. KSS SPHS

This picture is awesome! I really like the colors.I love how most of the picture is just the white sky, but the your eye is drawn to the buildings at the bottom. The focus is really sharp but I think I would have included more of the buildings.

What I like about this image is the sky, it adds a negative space because it is nearly white. I like the negative space because it drags you eye to the bottom of the image. I like the almost sepia tone to the buildings due to the time of day, and the trees at the very bottom give a organic effect to the city.

there needs to be more of a focus in the photo. there is too much sky being shown and not enough building. the colors are a little too vague but i see the idea you are getting at and if you worked a little harder on it then it wouldve worked out perfectly

I do actually like the blank white of the sky since it is something nice for the building to sit against, but I believe that the buildings themselves are too overexposed. If you could increase the darkness of the buildings so that they weren't so washed out, I think the picture would be so much better. But overall very good composition!
