How Now Brown Cow?!

Contributed by E. McDougal

This is a picture that I took for the abstract photography assignment. I know its a clear subject but I still submitted it as abstract. I tried to fix some of the colors that were washed out and I ran a sharpen edges filter.

I like this photo because it isn't the usual angle for a picture of an animal. I don't think that I've ever seen a picture of a cow from this angle. It's an innovative shot, and that shows a lot of skill. You did a good job taking the picture as well. Everything is in focus and the colors look very good.
I like that I can see parts of the background, such as the trees, but it's an after thought. They don't stick out in the photo or take away from the main subject.

Interesting picture. Good job getting a cool picture with a sharp foreground and blurry background (especially when the foreground subject might not have been to friendly), it really adds to the quality of the picture. MB. SPHS.

I like the style of this picture. The way that the subject is presented is interesting. I like that the subject is in focus while the background is out of focus. Nice work! BF SPHS

I like this picture a lot. I like how the background of the picture is blurry and not in focus. The washed out colors of the background is really cool too. It make the cow stand out more and the cows colors.

I really like this picture. I like how the animal is clear and the background is blurry but you can still tell that there are trees in the background! good job! KR SPHS

I really like this picture! Very nice work on your rule of thirds. The depth of field is done well also. Good choice of color filtration too. The cow's cute to boot!

I really like this picture. I like how it's a nice beautiful day and the way the backround is blurred. I also like the way the subject is only half way into the picture. Good job!

This picture is very interesting. I like how the background of this picture is blurred out and the cow is clear. I think if the color of the picture is a little darker or give more color to it, then it would bring the cow out a little more. Overall I really like this picture, its something different then what i have seen in the past.

I really love this picture. I like how the picture is focused on half the cow and the background is blurred. It really makes the photo better how it's only half the cow, because it makes your mind wonder and think more about the piece.
Good Job!

I really like this picture because of the focus. I like how the front of the cow is so clear, but the background is fuzzy. It keeps the eye interested. I also really like the colors, and the rule of thirds is used perfectly! Great picture!

This is a cool picture. I like that the cow is off to the side and isnt right in the middle. The background being blurred is neat too. Good Job.

This is a very creative image. I always enjoy outdoor pictures.
I like that I can make out the blurry background but it does not take away from the subject. I like the angle at which the picture was taken as well. Good job using rule of thirds! -KS, SPHS

I like the clarity of the picture. Great use of depth of field; with the background out of focus and the face in-focus. It’s cool how you can still tell what kind of setting the cow is in, although you can’t see the setting clearly. It is interesting how you didn’t take a complete picture of the cow, it makes the picture great.

This photo is focused very well. The sharp focus emphasises on the cow. The DOF in this photo is very deep. This enhanses the shot because it shows the cow is in a feild. You did a wonderful job capturing this cow, and making it presentable for art.

I really think this is a cool photo. I like how the background is all blurred out and the cow is the main focus of the picture. I also like how the edges are so cleanly cut and sharply focused. I also like the vibrant colors. I belive the DOF works in this picture. The lighting i think is also very good. The light really highlighs the focal point. I would hang this on my wall because of the contrast and vibrant detail.

I really like this photo. The vantage point is interesting and looks difficult to do. I like how the focus is blurred in the back and the sharp focus of the cow in the foreground. The colors are great in the both the cow and the trees.

I love the vividness of the cow. You can really see every detail and hair and it is the first thing that pops out. I also like how part of the cows face is gone, which creates interest. The cow's ear also directs the viewer’s eye through the picture. I like how deep this photograph goes, and you can see everything in the background. The colors in this picture also really pop. They are incredibly intense and bright. Nice job!

This picture is interesting. I love all the colors of the cow. It's up close so many do not get to see the numerous colors on cows. I like the focus on the cow's nose and all the way up to the ear it kind of gets blury. The texture of the cow's nose is very interesting. Nice photo!

I think this picture is really cool. I like how only half of the cows face is shown, and i also like how the focus is on the cows face, and hows its a really clear photo. I also like how everything behind it is blurred, making it seen far away.

This is definately an abstract picture - but I like it a lot! It's a very strange and unique idea, but the detail of the cow is really interesting. The blurred depth in the photo adds a unique contrast between the sharp details and the shapeless field. Great job on this.

I like how this picture focuses on the cow and how the background is blurred, But what I have a hard time with is the focus of the cow. I wish I could see more of the cow, Other than that, it was an okay picture! A.M. -SPHS

I really like this photo. The title was the thing that drew me in. good choice. I really like the perspective you took this from. You are focused in on the side of the cow's face and everything else is blurry which really shows your subject. I also like how crisp that each hair looks. I also like how the cow brings your eye through the picture through her nose and through the ears. Great job on this photo. Keep up the good work. ATP SPHS

I love how your eyes is immediately drawn to the hair on the nose of the cow. The texture and sharpness of the picture are great! The blue sky really makes the cow stand out. I wish I could see more of the cow, instead of just the nose. Keep up the good work!

I love cows, so when I saw this picture I fell in love. I like how you played with the rule of thirds, the cow isn’t all the way in the picture and you barley see its eye. I portray this picture as a gentle mood.

i like the emphasis you put on your focal point. the nose doesnt take the whole photo up but it gives enough of a center idea. the backgorund is a little too out of focus though.
