It's a Bug's Life

Contributed by H Camp

I took this at a hunting club in Mississippi, and thought it would make
a cool picture with the colors of the bug and flower combined. I turned
the contrast up and that's all.

I like the subject you chose, and the bright colors make this a really cool photo. My one suggestion would be to zoom in one the flowers/bug because it seems like the grass is taking up too much of the photo. Other than that, really cool photo. MB. SPHS.

The colors on this photo are so bright and vibrant that it looks more life like than just a photo. I don't like bugs and although pictures don't usually bother me, this photo kind of creeps me out. The fact that you were able to bring that life like quality into a photo is absolutely amazing.
The colors are, like I said before, extremely vibrant. I like what you did with it.
I like the photo itself, subject wise. It's a very natural subject.
Good Job.

I really like this photo. The saturation of the colors is great! I also like how the flowers and the bug in the foreground are in focus, and the stems in the background are out of focus. I think the shot would be more interesting if the subject wasn't so dead center. If the subject were a bit below or above the horizontal line the shot would be really good. Overall good job! >MH SPHS

This is a really cool picture! I love the focus on the flowers and especially the bug. The grass is also a really pretty background. The green creates a good contrast.

I really like this picture. Its cool how the flowers look small compared to the grass and how they are centered right in the middle of the picture. The bug is exactly the size of one of the flowers, which looks good. I also like how the grass is out of focus compared to the flower, and the color tone is great.

I love this picture! I really like how the bug and flowers colors went together. I also like how the colors are all concentrated into the middle. I also like how the grass has a nice rich, green color.

I really like this photo. I think you did a great job of focusing on the subject. The contrast change immediately draws your eyes to the bug without it having to be the biggest thing in the picture so you did a very nice job with that. Not only does the contrast change help but the fact that the bug is surrounded by green grass makes it stand out even more. Good job on choosing your perspective. I would try to focus on the bug a little bit more to eliminate some of the extraneous grass. Overall great job. ATP SPHS

First of all it's impossible to get that close to a bug. I'm amazed. The colors in this photo are fantastic. I like how the focus is on the flowers. It's also lucky that the bug has some yellow on it. I would suggest zooming in more on the picture because it seems like there is too much grass. Otherwise great job with this photo.

The colors on this photo are so bright and it makes the photo more life like. I think it would have been better if there was a crop. There is too much green background and takes away from the flower and bug. However, I like how the grass is blurry so the main focus is on the subject. Awesome picture! -KS, SPHS

I really like this picture. The colors are so vibrant and bright. Even though the colors stand out a lot, I think you were able to focus in on the subject well. Another thing I like about this picture is the angle in which you took the photo in. The background is really nice, because the green grass and brown earth blend well together. Overall, great job. The bright, vivid colors work really well with this subject. Depth of field is right where it needs to be to keep the flower and insect in focus without the grass in the background being too distracting. The dirt in the background is a little dark, but it doesn't take away from the insect at the center. -JB SPHS

This picture is very beautiful. I love pictures with flowers because the flowers always stands out because there always blooming with there bright colors. I don't like the insect sitting on the flowers, well because I don't like bugs. Overall this picture is amazing and I love how its the background is grassy.

I like this picture a lot. I like how the backround is slightly blurred. I like how the flowers stick out and the bug is on top. It's a different and interesting picture.

The vibrant colors and the subject itself are both wonderful, but I think the composition could use some work. The flower/insect take up so little of the photo and they're right in the middle, both of which add up to a not-very-interesting composition. Zooming closer to the subject and/or using the rule of thirds to decide where in the picture the subject should be would remedy this problem. Otherwise, great photo and I love the subject. :)

I like the odd number of flowers, and how the yellow on the bug compliments the yellow on the flower. It could have been set off the center using the rule of thirds. overall a good picture with warm colors.

This is a great photo. I like how there is only 5 flowers in the picture. This would be a great photo with out the bug, But the fact that the bug is there really enhances the photo and gives it a special edge.
