Honestly, I don't see anything artistic about the photograph. It looks like a snapshot that passerby wou take, it's not very pleasing to the eye. The lighting isn't even interesting. I like the idea of it having a picture in it that meant something to you, but I think you could have done something much more intersting with it.

Ha ha, interesting comment above. I dont find this picture to be as artistic as it is unique. I really like the shot of the vase, it adds a special feel to this piece.

Sometimes photographs are taken more as documentary artifacts than as artistic creations. I believe it was the photographer William Eggelston who pioneered the photographing of everyday americana. I like this image for its uniqueness, and mysteriousness. Its elements, the vase and photograph have a connection that is left up to the viewer to determine. I enjoy images that are mysterious and don't hit me over the head with their obvious meaning. Now after having said all that I do believe that this image could use a bit of editing to help make it pop a bit and to fix the dark area at the bottom right.

I agree with Mr. Myers' appreciation of documentary photography, and leaving some things to the viewer. However, I can also relate to the previous comments in that this still could have been accomplished with more technique... something to add more interest. Maybe a different angle? More unique lighting... ? A third element? ... something (almost anything) besides a straightaway shot. The composition alone just doesn't seem strong enough to carry its own weight.
