Wild as the Wind

Contributed by L LaGrange

I took this picture on an animal preserve in south Louisiana last summer. We were given these huge buckets of food and allowed to feed the different animals. That was cool because it helped me get a bunch of up-close face shots like this one. I really like how this shot came out because of the gazelle's expression, and i hope you like it too!!!

Your shot has a surreal flavor to it - the animal in the foreground appears so large, and the birds on the ground seem so distant. The interesting camera angle adds a lot and I also like the palette. Very nice.

This is a great idea, although there is something disturbing me in that crop. I wish the bottom part of the animal's face was showing.

The angle and framing make this a pretty bizarre photo; but somehow it works for me. I think what I particularly like is the animals in the background. They make the scale of the animal in the foreground seem that much more out of wack, which adds to the surreal quality that someone else already mentioned. In all, an interesting shot.
