I took this photograph this past summer in South Carolina. I was really trying to capture the mood that the light was creating. I think what I like most about this photograph is the contrast of organic lines and forms against the geometric lines on the left. I also like the contrast between the water and the mud. It kind of reminds me of a yin-yang the way your eye travels around the photo and the balance created by the horizontal boundary of the mud and water. I also like the tranquility I feel from the soothing earth tones. Above all I think the most interesting part of this photo is the ambivalence of what it is. Each person can interpret it differently. I always like taking an unaltered photograph from nature and having an abstract result. This was taken on a floating dock in a salt water marsh. To the left is the dock, and the blackish blurs reflecting in the water is grass. Enjoy

i like this picture, but it confused me just a little bit at first. i couldn't tell what was what, but after looking at it, it's pretty abstract and overall a good photograph. i like it. the earth tones work really well together.
What a lovely photograph. The starkness of the wooden raft on the left side creates a perfect border for the motion of the water and the sofness of the lines of the mud. Well done!
I really like the contrast in this picture. As you said, the organic shapes and textures work well with the straight rough lines in the dock. But I would say that maybe a little bit more of the dock should be showing. It almost acts as to much of an edge for the photo, you almost overlook it as something accidental when you first look at it. But besides that I think it is great.

I love the interesting areas in the water and the overall dark tones and mood in your image. I agree with farmgirl that I would like a bit more of the wood on the left, just so it would feel more intentional. Still a good one as it is. Great work
