Manitoba

Contributed by N. Jackson

This picture was photographically recorded a few weeks ago while in my mother's car. I really like the colors in the picture, they all kind of blend together giving it an overall kind of warm sensation. I like the composition of the four prominent traffic lights, two red, two green to add variety to the picture. I also like the traffic lights because it calls your eye to the other traffic lights further back in the image.

I dont know there's something off in this photograph. I think it definitely needs a levels adjustment for some contrast in the foreground. The dimensions feel off as well, possibly you could crop it in a more interesting way. I think cropping it would help break up from the symetry of the horizontal lines from the horizon, lights, and the road. I do like the color palatte, but I think they need a little more intensity than they are presently to create more contrast.
Overall I think your concept was ok but the execution could use some tweaking.

I agree that the image needs a levels adjustment, probably confined to the lower third, enough to reveal more details in the road area. I like the image, it reminds me of americana images from William Christenberry and William Eggleston.

I like the over all idea of everyday sights looking cool. but I think you should have narrowed down your image to a smaller space. Also could you brighten it just a little bit? other than that good job man.

The "four prominent traffic lights" are nice, but in my humble opinion they are not strong enough to carry this photo by themselves. I think you need more (or less?) in this image to make the composition worthwhile. As it stands, the fact that you managed to get the power line parallel to the picture frame is the only thing that keeps the photo from looking accidental, sorry to say. I commend the effort, nonetheless.
