Untitled

Contributed by F Flanagan

Ok, I took this picture a few months ago at the beach. It was the side of this really old gift store kind of place in Sea Grove. It had this nasty looking yellow stuff coming out of it. I couldn't figure out what the stuff was but I liked the brick work and it has always just caught my eye. I think the lines between the bricks really help move your eye around the picture but that's just my idea on it.

Interesting choice Mr. Flanagan... I actually like it, but it needs a tweaks in my opinion. The bottom portion is more interesting than the top, I think a levels adjustment to that portion might help and perhaps a bit of a crop as well. Of course there is the point that there is no real subject. A vine, shadow, person, or other object would look great in front of such a cool background. I do however appreciate minimalism and think it could be fine as just a wall.

Very interesting texture. Could you take it from the side so that the lines don't appear so parallel? I do agree with Myers that some item in the foreground would help. I think an interesting shadow would be very good. Next time you go there, give it another shot!

I agree with the previous comments that you need another subject in this photo to make that wall (and photo) worthwhile. Maybe if lighting wasn't so even, that would be enough to add some intrigue (?). As it stands, it's not very interesting, sorry to say. I can imagine that it might look interesting in person... but some things just don't convey well on film.
