View From a Room

Contributed by K Bomer

I took this picture while spying on Mr. Crigger, hanging out the window of a first-floor class room. This particular class happened to be Ms. Savage's Yearbook class... enough said, I think.
The reason I choose this one, besides Myers putting me on the spot, was the contrast. Tell me what you think.

Looks pretty good, like the contrast, it just seemed a little of centered. Like the black and white effect, shows out the picture very well.

I like how it is really basic and the contrast works well on it. I think there is some work that could be done in the levels area but not a lot of work. Besides that it is really good.

This one is growing on me...I never hated it I just wasn't to sure I liked it either. I do like it's abstractness and contrast between the metal drain and the pine needles. I still don't like the pen, maybe take it again while in yearbook class.

I hate to sound redundant, but this shot reminds me of the "Manitoba" shot contribured by N. Jackson... the subject matter is just not that interesting (not even for an "abstract" shot, sorry to say). I also agree with Mr. Myers that the pen definitely makes things worse, as it just doesn't add anything. It also detracts from the image because it looks too deliberate. Overall, I *think* I can see why the scene caught your eye (the juxtaposition of things that don't seem to go together usually works in photography) but I can't honestly say that it made for an interesting photo in this case. Not trying to be mean here, but hopefully you find this comment helpful as you look to improve your photography.
