Big Walker Mountain Tunnel

Contributed by J Crocker

I took this shot on my way out of the Big Walker Mountain Tunnel in West Virginia on a summer road trip. I like it because it has a nice contrast and I think it is a good fast moving shot. Out of all the last minute shots coming out of the tunnel i took, this one was the one I was most satisfied with. The only editing done to it was just a little bit of levels adjustment to tone it down a bit.

Pretty amazing photo. My question is, how did you get it like this?!?!? It is probably my favorite shot that is on the blog right now. Very artistic feel. One problem I have is the part of the car at the bottom left of the photo. It unbalances the photo a tad.. Anyways, it amazing

I really like this - very "pow" to the eye. The tiny corner of car is not even too much of a distraction. Strangely, what makes it work for me is the orange cone, slightly off-center. It seems everything else is moving/blurring, but that cone is not. Quite an interesting piece.

ooooooooo... thats psycadelic man.... let me stare at it a little longer.... sweet. anyway, this is deffinatley a piece that I would hang up somewhere if only you fixed the bottom left corner. the purple and yellows compliment each other nicley while the red tones in the road kinda bring the piece back down to earth. I also like the nice highlight through the middle of the piece. it gives it very much a feeling of suspense as the veiwer wants to know whats on the other side. one would think that the big white spot would be the only thing an audience would notice when staring at this shot but since it kinda fades off into the purple up top the eye does indeed notice the roof and surrounding walls. after that the cone, which seems to be balancing on the edge of eternity, attracts the eye back to the center assisted, of course, by the road which has similar color tones.

p.s. last night I commented on the last 9 or so pictures but not all of them showed. thats wiggidy wack and slightly dissapointing.

Wow this image really jumps out at you and begs to get noticed. Normally I would not want so much blown out highlights in my image but here it works for me. I agree about the comment on the cone in the road, it would not be as successful without it. The car in the bottom corner does not bother me and I kind of like it as it gives me a bit more information about the Scene. Nice one!

This picture is amazing! I’m not exactly sure of what it is but it looks like a tunnel with a road going through it. I like the way the picture looks as if you were going really fast through the tunnel. How the lighting turned out is also very neat looking.

What drew my attention to this picture was how the light was captured in the shot. It looks as thought the light reflects off of all walls of the tunnel, even the cone. The colors are very vibrant and overall I think this is a very nice photo.
