Grand View Point

Contributed by C Mattox

This picture was taken this summer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, at a spot in Grand Teton National Park called Grand View Point. After spending five days straight with my entire family I I finally had to up and leave to wander around on my own. Two hours and a thousand vertical feet through bear country later, I found myself here. No real professional equipment, just a 5.1 megapixel Sony Cybershot point-and-shoot. I like the way it turned out though.

I like the way it turned out, too. If I had never been there, I might think the colors weren't true - but I know they are. The only thing I would possibly change is to lower the horizon line - giving more of the sky and less of the trees - especially since some of the trees in the foreground are unattractive and somewhat distracting. However, that is a minor point and since you probably aren't going back, let's take is as it is and say "well done".

i really like this picture because it is a nice sunject first of all. i also think it is intersting how the trees are in focus in the front so they catch your eye but the mountians also fight for your eye cause they are pretty

First off, i went to Grand Teton National Park last summer and it was awesome, some really cool country... I really like this shot, it was taken from a great viewpoint on top of the mountain overlooking the fields and woods that lead up to the mountain range... The composition is really sweet to the proportions from trees to fields to mountains to sky is really cool. The greens and blues work really well together. I love this picture its really cool. great job

I have been here as well and your nice image brings back great memories. I agree about limiting the trees and giving that nice sky a bit more of the stage. Good overall exposure and sharpness. TFS (thanks for sharing)

This is pretty much amazing, the scenery is just wonderful, sadly there are trees covering some of the view, but it is a very lovely shot.

Nice shot. I like how you see the trees but in the background theres just these awesome looking mountains. The trees really do steal some of the focus on this photo. Overall though, nice job with the whole point and click thing.

I myself like the trees the way they are, yes, even the dead ones. the way they are now makes the piece look more authentic while also off setting the huge amount of green in the foreground. I also think that the mountains are too far away and too small to be the main subject of this piece so the trees help to really bring the piece together to form a balanced shot. as for the mountains, wow. thems right there is pretty spectacular. The blues and greens make this a very calming piece and I also like what appears to be a lake at the foot of the mountains. as I said in a previous post I like water in a piece and in this one it adds somewhat of a dreamy feel to the piece which only adds to the soothing cool colors. sweet picture
