Awesome depth of field. I love how you captured the way nature can look like man made things, in this case, ornaments. I like how they’re spread out too. It adds a nice balance to the photo. The colors are a bit bland, though. Erin -ERHS
I really like this simple shot Jack. The sweet gum balls (for all you NE folks, those are seed pods from a sweet gum tree) are nicely arranged and the soft pallet fits the mood of the shot. The only gripe I have is with the leaf on the left that is distracting and could be easily cropped out.
Just for the record, there are Sweetgum trees north of New York City. This variety of tree has always been a favorite tree of mine and this photo captures its beauty in Winter perfectly. Oh yes, you could crop off that bit of leaf - so maybe it isn't quite perfect - but very good!
hmm... this must be my mother in NY correcting me. I meant to say NW not NE. I don't think, although correct me if I am wrong, that the species does not live up in Washington where the comments were from.
When I look at this picture I notice right off the back that your picture has a very good depth of field. I like how your objects look like ornaments. The coloring of your picture mix but then I thought that it was kind of plain.
I don’t understand this picture but for some reason it really draws in my eyes. I like how the background is blurred and then the limbs are still in focus.
This high school photoblog is the product of the photography students at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Al.
Students take turns posting one of their images along with a brief explanation each school day. The students also trade critiques with their peers from other schools around the country (see high school blog links below).
We are always looking to expand our participating schools. If your photography program starts a blog, email Mr. Myers so he can add your link to our growing list. emyers@hoover.k12.al.us

This is a really nice shot. I like how you got the tree with that thing on it in focus. Good job!

Very good depth of field. Anna-erhs
I think you did a great job capturing this shot. The depth of field is awesome but it needs more color. Matt-SPHS
