Samford Hall

Contributed by J Morris

This is a picture of Samford Hall at Auburn University. I like the photo mostly but I do not like how I cut off the top of the building. I had to move it so it was not crooked either. I wish I had gotten a better view of the red brick. The shadow covers the hall so you can not see the red brick as well either. but tell me what you think.

Honestly I'm kind of bored with this picture. I don't really know where I'm supposed to look or what I am trying to see. Also you need to make an ISO adjustment because you have a grain problem thought the building. Maybe you could have tried turning the camera to capture more of the building, and going at a time when the sun is not directly behind the building. Also if you want to include the words of the building give them a little more space than the exact bottom edge of the frame. Try going back to this same place, and take 50 frames and make each one completely different. Challenge yourself to think about new angles and ways to shoot and you might find one that works.

I kinda agree with what is posted above. I do not know where I am suppose to look. The way that the brick changes color seems a little weird. Also I would suggest moving back a little more to get all of the building in the picture

it looks to me like you tried for a bit of a perspective shot with the two towers shooting off into space. next time try for even more dramatic perspective and maybe even take the shot, not straight on, but kinda off to the side a bit so you can squeeze that tree off to the left in bit more and add more subject matter and depth of feild.

im guessing this picture was taken from your back log. the shadows are very sudden and throw of my gaze. also the top is blown out which makes a bad contrast. i find the tree in the left distracting. so fix the angle and the light and you got a good shot.

I'm going to be honest, this looks like one of this pictures you would see in a boring family vacation slide show. you could have done alot more with the building design. it seems as if you have little to no aesthetic vision.

Alright bud this is a pretty good one, much better than the foot one. It still strikes me as being a bit plain, just a straight on shot of Samford Hall, with the subject in almost the dead center of the frame. Maybe try this building from a spot right by the foot of it.
