Brick in the Wall

Contributed by M Crumbley

I decided not to put up another shot of rome again. I took this shot while taking photos for leading lines. This is in front of my fireplace in our basement i thought it was a pretty cool shot. I hope you like it.

I really like how you captured the leading lines in this shot. I also like the gray scale you chose for the picture. I like how the texture of the carpet and the texture of the stone contrast each other. I would like to look at the shot in color to see if it would have been better like that.Good Job though! SPHS

im wondering whether you desaturated the shot or not. is the brick really that grey? the picture itself has a good depth of field, but i dont like looking at a picture in grayscale that i cant really picture in color also. so in a way i like it and in a way i wanna turn my head.

This could work as a leading line shot if the leading lines you captured lead to something (like a subject) The wall itself or rug are not interesting enough in themselves to hold my attention as the subject. The b/w conversion is ok but the values don't balance well in my opinion.

great use of line as well as texture. However, I wish there was more contrast between the lights and darks it would definitely add interest to the photo. i do love the way you made two very uninteresting subjects work together to create an interesting photo.

it's good to see you've finally started taking pictures outside of your house... er wait.. Is this your fireplace? I think the colored picture would have looked better.

Good shot mitchy, obviously im partial to black and white shots. Im a big fan of good depth of field shots too. And this fills both of those plus a good exposure and focus. nice change in texture between the rocks and pebbles. nice pic.

I really like this picture. Your picture has a great depth of field. I like how you made it in grey; it makes the picture very interesting. Good job!
