Room with a view

Contributed by A McComb

I took this picture a couple years ago while in Spain. We were touring the palace El Escorial, which is a ways outside of Madrid. Unfortunately i did not own the nicest camera then, so the resolution is not that great. But nevertheless, i've always thought it was a neat shot. Besides the minute details, the biggest change i made to the photo was toning down the hue a whole lot. I wan't sure how to rotate the image to achieve the best composition, but i did the best i could. Hope yous guys like it!

Amy I like this shot because it has an old world feel about it. The scene beyond the window is void of any modern buildings or tourists so one can experience what it has been like for some time. The limited pallet and overcast skies help this timeless feeling. I like the composition and how the views eye is drawn into the scene. Strong first shot for you, I am looking forward to more.

The composition of this shot is just excellent. I like the way the window panes lay a somewhat angular grid over the whole, how the old wall outside zigzags behind the geometric garden in the foreground, and then the line of trees beyond - marching off both sides of the frame. I feel myself standing in that room. It is a misty gray European day. Thanks for sharing such a nice moment.

I love this picture. It makes me feel like I am the one looking out the window. It also feels as though it's during ancient times. It's very vintage. Great job :)

Nice picture. It shows another side to Spain. The resolution only enhances the shot.
