Meet on the Ledge

Contributed by A Carr

I took this photo at this abandon shed out in Leeds. Its just a simple window shot, but I really like the texture of the worn, peeling paint. There is also a slight reflection in the window that is not clear so I guess that is kind of interesting too.

I like this picture. It reminds me of my cabin on Camano Island. Well, not my cabin, the garage, there are a few broken windows and a whole load of peeling paint. This is a good picture because it follows the rule of thirds, not a whole lot of others here do. It’s nice to see a well set up photo. It’s also neat because you can’t really tell what is in the reflection, but you know it’s there.

I don’t really know what this is, but I don’t really care. The shot is great! The colors all work together very well and you did a great job with the focusing. I can see every detail in this photo. Whatever it is, you did it justice!

This picture is adorable! It looks like the bird is talking up to the cat. I like how they both like curious. Aperture was I think used here, to really get the cat and bird the main focus. I get sort of a love type of mood from this. Hopefully no one was hurt after the picture was taken

This photo is amazing because, at first, it looks simply like an old window, but the more you look at it, the more you begin to see the beautiful details. The chipped paint and icy color give it a lonely appearance, while the faint reflection makes it mysterious. Overall, you made this photo perfect.

I really like this picture. It almost reminds me of a painting for some weird reason. I wish I could remember the named of the painting. I love the solemn colors in this picture.

I love this photo. It has an old, decaying feel to it that really sets it out from the others. The way the window is opened slightly revealing nothing but black is really great.

I like this picture. Because it brings a kind of mysterious feeling. I also like how it looks realistic, it doesn't look fake. TS. sphs

I like this picture a lot, I love how it really makes me want to be there where the picture was taken, because I really am interested as to what's inside this shed, and I don't think that's a coincidence, you did a great job creating this sense of mystery and almost desire. I believe the old, abandoned look that the chipped paint, worn wood, and cold feel this picture has is perfect. Great picture.

I really like this photo overall. The peeling paint adds a great effect and catches the eye. The offset window also looks interesting. The reflection in the window is odd but doesn't take from the whole image. Good photo.

This picture seems to have no subject in this picture. It was a good idea. I wish there was like a creepy eye or something in the little crack. Then it would be a very good picture. I like that you can see the wood chips of paint though. It is nice and clear. I think this picture needs some work though.

Well Abby you really nailed it with this one. I am a sucker for extremely good use of otherwise mundane subject matter in the creation of good composition. It appeals to me much in the same way the Ashton's Water Main picture does, in that regard. However your image is somewhat superior in that it does offer this sense of mystery. The limited cool pallet, reflection and void help create this sense. My only nit, and it is not a deal breaker, is that the focus trails off a little on the far left side.
While I like viewing the shot as objects; ledge, paint, glass, wood and void. I like it just as well as an abstract assemblage of planes and lines with texture and color. TTU!

This photo is very cool. Not just figuratively, the cooler colors add a nice icy affect. This calms the viewer, but the picture also creates a sense of mystery because it is not evident on what it is. The texture is my favorite part, from the chipping paint to the smooth glass. The lines also draw one's eyes throughout the picture, and the rule of thirds is used very well, balancing the photo. The more I look at it, the more I love it.
