Galleria Tower

Contributed by P Glenn

So this was my first attempt at HDR. I used Photomatix to align the photos and create the HDR, and then used photoshop to dull the colors slightly. Overall I'm pleased with the result and will be trying more HDR in the future.

This shot is amazing. It's very almost "sinister" and tells a story. I like the subject being the Galleria Tower...I would've never guessed. I like the background as well. I think the contrast between the building and the sky is awesome. Great job in using the building as the main focus and placing it in the center of the frame. I also like the how the viewer is almost looking up at the building. It creates a sense of depth and more importantly a sense of reality. Awesome overall!

This photo is really cool. I like how the background and the sky is really dark and creepy looking, while the building is brightly illuminated. It is also interesting because I know exactly where this shot was taken and I am familiar with the setting. The slight grayscale and the dulling of what were bright colors makes the photo very attractive to the eye as well. This is an overall good photo. -BS SPHS

This picture is crazy, in a good way. I like the angle you took the photo. The way the picture was taken makes it appear as though the building is tilting. The dark sky makes the rest of the buildings stands out. And the light from the Galleria stands out as well. The Galleria looks like its a stair case and its coming towards the photographer. Overall this was a out standing photo..good job!!

I really like this Photo. I like how you shot it an angle lookin up. Ive never really looked at the galleria tower really too much before but judging by this picture it looks pretty nice. I also like how you gave it a darker feeling sort of like a storm is coming through. It really makes the light in the windows stand out and the mall in back ground come to life.

This picture is really cool! I've never really paid enough attention to the Galleria to notice how beautiful the building structure is! The only thing about this picture is that I would have like to see more of the building that is in the bottom right corner of the picture.

I think that this photo is very interesting photo. I like how the background contrasts with the galleria. on the other hand one thing i do not like is the fact that it is slightly crooked. But other than that this picture is well done and has very sharp and clean detail to it.

Although very basic, I really like the colors used in this picture. The main/central subject is very clear and apparent in this shot. I also like how some of the lights in the building are on and some are off; it adds more to look at in the photo.

The photography class I am currently in is actually working on a night theme project and I am envious of how your night photo turned out. The aperture setting for lighting was perfect here.

I like your creativity in angle choice here. The lines used in this picture are amazing.

I get the feeling of “shutting down” here. The lights are slowly being turned off and its approaching darkness outside. Great Shot!

I like this photo because this building looked really old and I think it looks good. The building definitely fills the frame.

This picture is very good! i love the time of day the picture was taken. The contrast of the lite rooms, white strips, and the dark rooms of the tower.

I especially enjoy the horizontal lines in this photo, and the clouds in the purplish sky. It almost looks like a painting. You made your subject, the building obviously, stand out very well. The lights in the rooms illuminate the photo, and this is an all-around good shot!

This a great use of HDR right here, as you are able to get a little bit of the surreal effect that HDR creates, but it still looks like a legit image. Also, the contrast between the brightness of the lights and the dullness of the sky is great and adds to the "evil" look of the tower. Only one minor suggestion, you would try to clonestamp out the rest of the galleria in the bottom right as it is slightly distracting.

The background is awesome! I think it is way cool. It makes it look rally eerie. Then the lighting and color really comes out. It is an extremely awesome picture though. Then there is also depth fulfilled in this picture looks great! Awesome job!

I really like this photo. I like how it looks like it is supposed to be storming, yet the Galleria is still pretty bright in the background. The photo almost looks like it was done on the computer, almost animated like. The colors are great and really capture the mood with the sky. LM-SPHS

I like this shot. It creates a really dark mood that kind of reminds me some sort of crazy city corruption and this is there base. That would be silly though. The one thing that bothers me is the composition. I don't know how i feel about the angle of the shot. The building looks a bit awkward to me. you might try cropping it differently. Good overall though.

i really like this. it can be hard to make HDR images to look good but this works. the only thing that bothers me is the angle. a better angle would have made this picture perfect.

I love this photo. You did a great job of capturing the architectural aspects of the building. The building seems to just tower over everything. You did a great job of using the lines to your advantage. I would’ve liked to see the curved lines on the side of the building, but the photo is, in general, a wonderful shot.
