Fisheye Lake

Contributed by A Horton

I took this picture while I was taking a walk. I used a fish-eye lens so the edges are very blurry, but the middle is in focus. I did a curves adjustment and black and white filter over it.

This is unbelievable! I can’t even begin to describe how much I like this picture! I love the effect if the special lens and your decision to put it in black and white. It really gives authenticity to the photo. This is a flawless picture! Great work! (:

I love the effect that the special lens creates on the photo. Its creates an effect that the photo is from the point of view of a fish poking his head out of the water. The black and white filter is the icing on the cake to complete a great image.

I really like this photo. I like the black and white effect and the effect that the fish-eye lens had. The water draws in the reader because it makes the eye follow it. Good work.

This is an awesome picture. I really like it. I like how it centers on the path of the stream. Using the fish-eye lens was a very smart choice. I also really like how it is in black and white. This is a great shot.

The fish eye lens really made this picture great. It brings all the focus to the river leading into the background. I also like that this photo is in black and white, I don't think it would have turned out as good if it were in color. nice job. dn sphs

I like the lens you used for it. It gives it a very unique feel especially since you changed the color to black and white. I also like how your eyes follow the river making you look back into the picture. I think its just a great picture all around.

Photos like these remind me of one of those crystal balls and looking into the future or past. I like that its black and white. The water looks beautiful with the ripples and such that the filter made easier to see. I also like how the trees look like they are cut outs kind of [like all black and connected together]. it makes the sky look interesting. There is this white spot up a little in the river in the background that is pretty bright and distracting. I also like the blurry edges.

Wow!! I love the effect the fish eye lens had. It seems so mysterious and really draws attention. The black and white affect really makes it look like its hiding something, makes i more msyterious. I LOVE IT!!

I love this photo! The lens that you used to take this photo works incredibly well and the choice to make it black and white unified the entire image. The river leads you deeper into the photo and provides great depth of field. Excellent job!!

Great decision to put the picture in black in white. It really helps to unify the shot and lead your eye down the river. I think if you had left it in color you wouldn't get this fantastic focus on the river. The fact that the river is right in the middle really helps to give it a lot of depth. Great job!!

The fish-eye lens really makes this picture unique. I like the blurry edges because it draws the flowing river to the viewer. I like the black and white filter, but I think the picture would have looked better in color. The lens makes me like I'm looking at this scene in a crystal ball. Great Photo.

I really like your picture! The circular lens you used gives the picture a unique effect. It also emphasizes the river which leads your eye throughout the image. I also like the choice you made for making the picture black and white. It creates an elegant effect for the picture.

I really like the composition of this shot! The river makes a great line for your eye to follow around the shot, and the fish-eye lens only contributes to the emphasis on the river. I also like the black in the corners. Overall, great shot.

This shot really grabbed my attention. I love the mysterious feel it gives off, and the fish-eye aspect is of course a cool touch. Black and white really did a lot for this photo; it accentuates the lonely, almost creepy feel. Very nice work.

AM Fish Eye lake

i picked this photo because you don't see many like them. the rive draws your attention all the way down stream. i also like the way you made it black and white, it gives out a very gloomy or creepy feeling, it also looks as if you are looking through a telescope

This picture caught my attention when i saw it. I like how mysterious and kind off moody the setting is. The fish-eye lens was a great touch makes The angles created also make the image great. The trees, vines, grass, and water make the photo very intriguing. Overall this picture is a great one. Keep up the great work! -MC

I like your composition in this photo. The creek provides a good example of leading lines and I like the effect that the fish-eye lens adds to this picture. Good choice. I like that you put this picture in black and white; however, I would have toned it down more, maybe not have made it so dark but that's just me. I really like the trees too. They add a mysterious vibe to this picture. Great work.

Wow, I love this photo. I think fish-eye lenses are so cool. But, I love the calm, pensive, and somewhat dark mood of the photo. It's sort of mysterious, as well. I love the falling/slanted tree in the middle... The contrast of the dark trees against the white/gray sky. I also love the perspective, how it looks as though you got in the water to take the picture. They way the river leads your eye downstream and the ripples in the water you can see towards the front is lovely. I like this photo a lot.

i really like the affect that the fish eye lens created on the photograph. i think it was a good choice for this picture because it pulls you in to the center where the stream and the fallen tree is. i would realy love to see the picture in color as well but this is good work.

i really like this picture. The differant type of lense makes it unique and differant from every other photo just like this. I really like the ripple effect that the water has and the way all the branches from the trees looks. I would like to see how it looks in color, but Great shot!

I like this photo. I think the use of the fish eye gives it a good effect and kind of creates a center of the photo. The black and white allows the detail of the photo to come through instead of having the color distracting your eye. I like how the photo creates a kind of story behind it. It makes you wonder where this stream/lake is and how it has remained so secluded. Overall, nicely done!!

The fish-eye lens that you used for this photo make for a great and unique picture. The leading lines of the top of the trees and the river help lead your eyes around the photo. The fact that this image is black and white also helps to give the picture a more stylish look. The cloudy looking sky and the cold looking surrounding give the photo an eery and unique look.

The fish-eye lens made this picture. You feel like your actually looking threw it as an eye. The black and white really made this stand out to me and how it looks down the creek. I would of liked to see how it looked from water level, but very good job.

I like the horror movie look to this picture…if that make’s sense at all. The fish eye lens gives it a cool affect. Aperture may have been used because the background tress looks a little out of focus. Good use of filling the frame for elements of composition. The kind of mood I get from this picture is definitely horror, ha great pic!

This photo is really unique. I like the special lens you used to give it the fish-eye look. The river and the trees also give really good leading lines to guide your eye around the image. I think the black and white filter really adds to the feel of the shot as well. I wouldn't change much about this photo. Good job. -BS SPHS

Um, wow, this reminds me of the Blair Witch Project. I really like it. I would have liked to have seen what the shot would have looked like in color, but it still looks good. I like how you chose to shoot this in the hills instead of the flatlands. Overall a good shot.

you did a very good job on this picture. the water is crisp and in focus, while the edges are blurred making for a defined subject. I like that its in black and white. it really brings out the contrast in the shot. Its nice that the waters is in motion, but its still very sharp. the fisheye also makes it more interesting.

I haven't really found a good reason to use my fish-eye lens yet, but I can see that this is a perfect use of it! I never wanted to use it because of the distorted colors that always appear around the edges, but I think it was a very good idea that you defeated that with the use of black & white- no color flaws there! For the one good use of wide-angle lens I have ever seen, I say: Good Job, keep up the good work!
