Another shot along the AT

Contributed by L Hamby

I ran a curves adjustment so the picture would have more contrast. I also did a levels adjustment, along with turning it black and white. I cropped it a good bit because there was some stuff in the foreground that was distracting. I sharpened it, and you can see the rain drops that are on everything!

I love the contrast in the photo! I like that the sky is white and the trees are black. O also like that you can see the details in the rock and the trees, it makes the photo very interesting. I also like that the rock is kind of two stacked on top of each other. I like that the lines of the trees leads your eye up to the leaves of the trees where there are great details!
Great photo!

i like what you done to the image and the details you've brought out in the image. I also like that you made the picture black and white. I think that brought out a better picture then if you left it in color. I also like the contrast in the image and i think the black and white made it contrast even better.

I think this shot is awesome. I love that it is in black & white. The levels adjustment is good. Cropping it is was a good idea. Sharpening it was also smart.

This is a pretty good picture! I like hoe the black and white work well together with the shot. The angle you took the picture from was a good choice. I really like how everywhere you look nature is there :). The trees just popping out of everywhere just made the shot look more amazing and interesting. The levels adjustment, cropping and the sharpening were all great choices. For some reason i seem to notice a rock formation (like a head and a chest in the rock) o.o. Overall this shot is a good to look at. Keep up the good job! -MC SPHS

Laura, I do wish that more of your pictures from the "AT" were posted because the two that have been up are amazing pieces of work. I love the general curvature of the trees and rock; it gives it a weird yet welcome dimension. And, once again, black and white was a great choice. I don't know the weather, but from this I imagine, or would like to imagine, this was right after a spring rain where it's still a bit hazy. Regardless of what it is, it makes me think and imagine myself in it which is the key to a successful picture. Wonderful shot.

you've done so many good things to this image, cropping, sharpening and changing it to black and white really brings out its potential. i also like the way you captured the wind blowing the tree.

I like this picture. I like the angle you used. I really like how you made it black and white it really works for this picture.I like how it isn't symmetrically balanced.

This is awesome. Its very eerie and you did an excellent job of creating a mood. I think the fact that this photo is in black and white also adds to the photo and accentuates the mood. I also love the depth. I really feel like when i'm looking at this that the background is way off in the distance. This is one of my favorite photos in a long time. Good Job.

I really like this photo, it looks very professional. The details that can be seen in the rocks, trees, etc. is amazing. I enjoy the composition and I feel that the contrast with the black and white is very appealing. The fact that you could get so much detail with a black and white photo is beautiful, yet I don't see your rain drops :(.

Very well done! The subject of this photo is good, but the way you took it really brought out the subtle parts of the image. The rock in the background makes me think it is more of a cloud then a rock, while the silhouettes of the trees lead my eye around. The only thing different I might would have done is to have focused on one thing as your subject, but other than that the shot is superb.

I love this photograph! The contrast is wonderful and the trees create a lot of leading lines. Aside from that the composition is so unique and the piece tells a great story! : ) good work!

This is a very powerful, moody shot. I like that you found such beauty in what would seem to some, as just some trees and big rocks. Converting the image to black and white and making the contrast so strong really added to the overall effect of the image. There is good depth of field, I like the trees and mountain that fade with the mist into the distance. My only criticism is that you said you sharpened the image yet, when I looked more closely, the image is not sharp at all! It's still a beautiful picture, I was just confused by that aspect...

At first glance the photo brings a sense of gloom, but as you really look at the photo you almost see the beauty in the contrast of white and black. i really like the fact that the shot is black and white instead of color because it gives the shot a certain edge that the color would not give it. I feel its a great photo but the only thing is the sky or background does not seem as sharp as the rock and trees appear to be.

What I like about the photo is that it fills in the frame and the whole picture looks like it is in focus. I think the lighting goes perfect with the picture. To me it looks like this photo reflects a sad mood.
