Bike Tire

Contributed by T Williams

I used a slow shutter speed and I zoomed out halfway through the shot.

I like how old the picture looks, when I know its not because the person next to me told me it was taken at his house. I also like how some of the picture looks transparent. I like it overall, and it makes me want to go ride my bicycle. Plus I saw some guy riding his bike to Jeff State today and telepathically I told him "You go guy! You go!"

I really like how this picture was taken. Having the tire within itself creates an awesome effect. When I first looked at the picture I just saw the bigger, translucent picture so I had to take a second look, which really intrigued me. The method that was used is extremely impressive and works incredibly well with the chosen subject.

Great picture! I like the composition and the way that the bike wheel overlaps itself. It looks really good in black and white .Nice Job! BF SPHS

this is a good picture because it causes the eye to go all over the piece

This photo at first glance seems very complicated and intricate but then you see that the subject is very simple, a bike tire. I like that the center focus is the bike tire but spindles of the tire stretch beyond the actual object. It makes me feel dizzy and at the same time i am focused on the center of the piece.

This picture gives off a sort of dizziness. It is just a simple bike with many reflections. I think the picture is manifest to a persons eyes. Then again it sort chicanery your mind by thinking to much in to the picture.

This is a very expressive picture. It almost gives the illusion of a few bikes. This is truely an awesome picutre.

I agree mostly with SD's comments. The zoom double exposure is a great effect on this subject. I like that you found a mundane object and made it special through photography. I also appreciate it more since it was created in the camera and not in Photoshop.

I like that you centered the tire in the image as it creates a strong balanced composition. Your sepia pallet adds to the abstract appeal of the composition.

Question? Did you use a tripod to avoid shaking during the slow shutter speed? You must have since I see great detail throughout.

I can't find anything to point out as an issue or a place of potential improvement, so I will just recommend that you enter the image in several photography competitions this year.

I hope you were using your best camera settings so it will be good and large for printing. Congrats! Thanks for sharing on the blog!

This photo is one of the best I have seen all year. The centering of the image allows for great balance and the illusion created by zooming out halfway through the shot is awesome. I like how there is the initial look of a single tire and then once you concentrate you are able to see another bike tire in the center of the first. This is a good use of the depth of field. Overall I think this is one of my favorite pictures of the year so far. Great Job. ATP SPHS

The blending of the back of the tire and gears too the close up of the tire gave this picture a nice twist. This seems to have motion do too the see through of the enlarged tire too the back round. Nice picture too put up Travis!

I really like the overall feel of this picture concerning they brownish-grey colors and the antique feel it gives. The double-wheel fading effect is interesting, and one I don't see very often. The angle of the wheel also makes the overlapping spokes look more natural even though they're made of manufactured metal.

I love this picture. Zooming out halfway was a great idea. This photo almost looks like there is more than one bike tire. It also has an effect to make your eyes wonder all over the piece. Good Job.

I like the coloring of this picture. The wheel of the bike shows many more reflections which makes this picture interesting to look at. Mentioning the coloring again, I just love the coloring on how it makes the bike look really really old.

I really love the effect that zooming out had on the picture. Before I read the description and just looked at the picture, I had to focus a bit to see the effect. I love how the focus is on the centers of the tires, with the spindles leading to it. In my humble opinion, great picture.

I like this picture because it makes you think. When i first looked at the picture, i just saw a lot of lines and i was confused as to what it was. But looking back at it now i see a bike tire. I like how the picture is sepia, it really makes the eye focus on the spokes of the tire. I like how the majority of the picture actually looks transparent. It makes me dizzy to stare at it for a long time, but i think that is why it is so interesting. It made me realize that there are so many opportunities for great pictures, such as everyday things we take for granted. Great Job!

I have never thought of using this kind of technique for a photo. It is bizarre and unexpected but I like it. I also think the use of sepia was smart, keeps everything looking good versus full color which I think would make this photo too confusing.

I love how transparent the picture is. It was very creative of you to use the slow shutter speed and then zoom in. This picture is very unique and I love the editing that was done to create an old-look.

i really like this photo. i like how the wheel and the tire over lap. i think it was a good choice to make the photo sepia toned. it was a good decision to make it a slow shutter speed. i think it is interesting how it fades out on the sides which makes it an interesting and creative picture.
