Smile Dog Smile

Contributed by D Meadows

This is one of my favorite pictures I have taken as it really takes the emotion of my dog and translates it to a picture. I did not do much except to remove some distractions from around the image.

So this picture has great focal point. This is the classic view of a dog that everyone knows how to draw the nose down to the mouth.

I like this picture because of the viewpoint. And I really like puppies. I also like where the light hits on the picture. Overall the picture makes me feel happy because the dog looks happy, and I like hearing about the photographer's dogs.

I like the way that this photo's subject takes up the whole picture. I also like the reflection coming off of the nose which suggests a texture. Nice pic! BF SPHS

I really like this shot because it really does look like a dog smiling, and shows its emotion. The focal point in this is great, you got just the right amount of mouth for this. Very creative, great angle, good job. -SPHS W.H.

This photo looks kind of depressing to me. Just by looking at the dog's mouth it almost looks like the dog is lonely and its looks sad

This is a great photograph! Your composition is wonderful, and I love how the light hits the dog's nose. Whatever little highlight that is on the left distracted me a little, because I wasn't sure what it is, but that's not necessarily bad.

I really like this picture. It just instantly brought a smile to my face. I love dogs, so I couldn't resist. I really like how everything behind the dog's snout just kind of fades into the darkness. Having the tongue gives this picture a nice contrast. Everything is black and white. Then there's this sudden explosion of color from inside the dog's mouth. Strong work.

Good Picture. I like how you cropped out everything but the snout. I like how dark the picture is.

I prefer to see the eyes of the dog as well. I have a chocolate lab, and his emotion is in his eyes.

I like the different textures in this photo, and I think the mouth of the dog is showing emotion, and it is unique.

I think this picture is great. The close up brings great detail to the nose and mouth. The cropping focuses on the subject much more, and without the eyes I think the picture becomes much more interesting. The contrast between the dark fur and nose with the teeth and tongue is very visually pleasing. Truthfully, I really enjoy the photo without its eyes, with the eyes it would just be another picture of a dog. Without them the photo is different and just enough emotion is communicated through.

I love this photo. The composition is wonderful and I really like the lighting. The dog's expression does appear to be happy, but I understand what cj means about the dog looking lonely. Because it is a black dog against a black background, the subject appears to be alone and almost like it is trying to find something. Great work!

When I saw this picture I was automatically attracted to the pink and the dog's mood caused me happiness. :) One color really stood out. The lighting also brings out the texture of the dog's muzzle. The dog's nose looks very moist and detailed. Another thing that attracted me was whatever is in the left corner. If it was not there then the focal point would stand out more. Otherwise, great job!

I really like this picture, and i love dogs. I like how you can see the detail of the dogs nose and his whiskers. I also like how your dog does look like he is smiling and how his teeth and tongue are showing.

I love the concept of the picture, especially the focus on the nose. I especially like how the dog's black fur blends with the background and contrasts with the tongue. Only real complaint is that the top of the picture could have been added so the nose would be a bit more centered on a focus point.

I love the lighting in this picture, and how dark around it is. The texture of the dog’s tongue, fur, and nose is portrayed. The rule of thirds was used well.

I really like the darkness of this image. It is almost perfect and still keeps great detail. The lighting is also very nice. only one source so there is not too much exposure. Good stuff

This picture has really good lighting. I really like how you filled the frame and that the tongue, teeth, and nose are the only really defined areas of the picture. Really nice angle that is was taken at too.
