Horse Reflection

Contributed by K Chappell

I took this picture for a water assignment. I turned it to black and white and it really helped enhance the reflection in the photograph. I love the softness of the picture in black and white also.

I really like the horse and the reflection in this picture. The way the water is slightly rippled from the horses mouth makes the reflection look really cool, but really real. Great angle and great job with the black and white, it turned out nice. - SPHS W.H.

I really like this reflective photograph. I like how the reflection takes up most of the picture and the horse is at the top drinking the water; it creates a sort of balance. This image has a very calm peaceful tone which makes it very interesting. The black and white tone also adds a soft atmosphere of the picture. Very nice job!

This is a great photo! The play of light makes it very interesting. I also like how the focus of the photo is not the horse itself, but on the reflection. All of the gray tones make the shot very soft and appealing. The reflection of the horse probably looks much more stunning in black in white than in color. Overall, awesome job. >MH SPHS

This photo has great example of reflection. I love how the picture is more of the horses reflection and not so much of the horse. Its cool how the water line is towards the top half of the picture I think it makes it more interesting. I also like the black and white it seems more profound that way.

The horse is very unique in which the reflection shows the shape of the horse drinking. Its a calm and cool picture but colletive at the same time almost as if you were going on a walk by a farm and happened to look across the field and saw a horse drinking from a river. Captures the moment perfectly.

i really like this photo. i think the reflection makes the photograph look better than it originally would. it was a good decision to make it black and white. i also like the angle the angle of which you took the photo. it looks good because you can see the whole reflection of the horse and only the head and legs of the actual horse. overall great photo.

I really like the composition of this photo. The way the horizon line is not dead center but up towards the top adds interest. I also like how you can see more of the horse in the reflection than you can from the actual horse.

i love this picture! i love how the picture is in black and white. it really compliments the horse and its reflection. the reflection of the horse is pretty clear too! i also like how you didn't show all of the horse yet you can see the horse as a whole in the reflection. its such a calm and peaceful photo. also, you made sure to use the rule of thirds and contrast which is good.

When I first saw this picture I was amazed! The reflection perfects this picture, and makes it top quality. The black and white also helps put a sense of tranquility and simplicity.

I like the black and white in this photo. I think it’s more effective than it would be in color. I think it’s creative how the horse’s reflection is in the water but you can’t see most of the actual horse.

I LOVE this picture!! i love how you got his full reflection in the water AND the fact that he's bending down to get some water. It really captures the feel for nature and is a beautiful pic!

This photo caught my attention. I really like the black and white in this picture, because it looks like a memory photo in a photo album. I also like how there is a shadow in the water of the horse.

I really like this picture. I think the grayscale was a really good idea. Too much color can draw attention too far away from the subject. Smart thinking, only getting part of the actual horse, but all of the reflection. It kind of gives it a surreal look. Overall, good job.

I think it was a great idea to turn the picture to black and white because it really brings out the reflection of the horse. The first thing I look at when I look at this picture is the reflection of the horse and then I looked at the horse itself. Great picture.sphs

LIKE IT YOU CAN ACTUALLY TELL WHAT IT IS THE REFLECTION LOOKS VERY CLEARLY.BECAUSE IN SOME IT JUST LOOKS LIKE A BLOB BUT IT LOOKS GOOD. I LIKE THAT YOU DID IT IN BLACK AND WHITE IT HELPS MAKE THE REFLECTION MORE CLEAR.I LOVE IT.

This is a good picture. I like how the picture has no color in it. It gives me a calm, peaceful feeling. If there had been color it would have seemed more difficult to focus on the horse. I also like that the main focus on the picture is where the horses meet, and the reflection of the horse. I also like how the reflection is very clear and the back ground is blurred out. Overall this was a really good picture.

I love the whimsical look to this photo! The reflection of the horse is crisp and clear. Although there's a small ripple going through the water i think it kind of adds to the the photo. The fact that you can see only part of the actual horse, but the entire reflection is what makes this picture so unique. Good thinking when turning it black and white. It adds to the whimsical look. Great job!

This picture is wonderful. I really love the reflection of the horse in the water and the ripples in the water to bring attention to the actually horse.
The grayscale really made this picture. If it was colored It would most likely take away the feeling of calmness within the picture.

This is such a beautiful picture. I love how most of the actual horse is hidden while the whole reflection is in view. Great use of the rule of thirds technique. The black and white adds to the character and meaning of the picture. Great job!

Being a fan of animals myself, I love the subject you chose for this photograph. The reflection is really nice, and the mono chrome look is a plus. Overall the quality of the photograph is great.

I really like this picture because of the horse. I like how you changed it to black and white to bring out the refection, but you could of just left the grass green with everything else black and white.

This is a great photograph. The horse is in sharp focus while the refection is more soft. I really like the fact that you changed it to a black and white photo. It makes me focus on the horse, compared to focusing on the colorful background. It is a very calming and relaxing photo. I also like the cropping you did. Overall, great photo.

This picture is really nice, I like it a lot. I like the black and white, it adds to the picture. The focus on the horse is really nice. The mouth down to the water sort of leads the eye down to the reflection. Great photo.

I really like this picture. I like the color of the photo and how you only got some of the horses body. I also like how so can see the whole reflection of the horse.

I like this picture because it is in black and white. I Like how you used rule of thirds with the horse so it isn’t in the middle of the picture but near the top. The reflection of the horse is a good element of this picture because it isn’t blurry and you can tell exactly what it is.

I thought that this picture was cool because the main focus of the picture is in the lower half oh the photo. The long legs of the horse draw your eyes up the picture to the actual horse. I think the picture looks very cool as black and white and it sets a very relaxed and serene tone.

Wow this is an amazing picture! The reflection is perfect and it creates a really peaceful mood. I like the way its cropped so you can only see part of the horse so your attention is more focused on the reflection. The leaves on the left are a tad distracting, but still beautiful!

Lots that is right with this image. Composition to begin with is great, I like how the land just touches the right side and divides the water and in a similar way the back of the reflected horse. Good technical aspects as well. Bravo!

This is really interesting. I like that you can’t see the whole horse on the top but you can see its reflection clearly in the water. The grey makes the picture have a “lonely” feeling. VD-ERHS

I really like how you made it black and white. The angle that you took it at. The reflection really fills the frame. Over all a very excellent picture.

I love this picture. The whole picture has a fragile feel to it, both of the horse physically and the water because it looks almost like glass. It's really cool how the horse is reflected so well in the water. Compositionally, I also like the use of rule of thirds. If the land split through the middle of the picture, it would not be as strong of a photo. But the lines of the land and the reflection both contribute to make this a great picture both compositionally and because of the subject.
