STI tail shot

Contributed by J Rosas

Really the over all thing that i was just going for was a good car shot. Um there is nothing really that i can said about this beside that my brother just got done washing his car. My brother wanted a good shot of his car so i though it would be a good set up to take it from the back. That took him about three hours to finish. I think it was the top 5 out of about 156 picture that i took that night.

I'm really diggin on this picture, The contrast between the black car/sky and the white light coming out of the garage. The red from the brake lights adds a good bit of color into the picture. good shot, the composition is very nice too

Overall you've captured a ridiculously bad picture. You have a color cast from the lighting outside, you could have easily corrected this in photoshop in levels or curves by making a very slight adjustment to color. The lights on the back of the car create spots of the image that are blown out. Even the light coming from the garage is a blown out spot. You should have taken an exposure at a longer shutter speed or taking a picture at a lower f-stop. You should also adjust the color around the spoiler from the black background or add a slight highlight so that its not lost in the color of the background. You also might want to crop the image a little closer so its a tighter frame and around just past the shut door. I just refuse to believe that of the 156 pictures you took, this was amongst the best. If this is the best you can do with the equipment you have, thats very, very unfortunate.

gotJPEGARTIFACTS? Well, blown out tail lights, license plate, and the back of the car for one reason or another is blurred. What you had in mind for composition is beyond me. Also, do you not know how to use your camera or something?

This is an interesting photo. I like how, through darkness and light, it portrays a “street racer” kind of feeling, much like whoever’s driving is about to close the garage and go out on the town. There are a couple of things that could be played with though. The light coming out of the garage is a little too bright and the interior light being on inside the car could be turned off to good effect. Overall, this is not a bad concept and with a little work, this could be an outstanding photo! Don’t take to heart that some people think photography principles are set in stone and should only be looked at in one way, naysayers the lot of ‘em.

I still think this is the single most worthless shot ever captured by human hands.
