snowday bama style

Contributed by K Thagard

I took this picture, because I wanted to capture the beautiful snow day. I just did a photomerge panorama. I then did a curves adjustment so I could really bring out the white in the snow. I did a small levels adjustment.

I really like how bold the shades of black and white are and I’m sure that came partly with editing but it still looks cool.
There is a vast incorporation of lines, both vertical and horizontal and then there are also curves and zig zags everywhere. The untouched snow gives the shot a peaceful vibe for the viewer. I also like how there is natural light and how the tops of the trees aren’t visible in the shot.
Great idea and great shot execution.

That looks a lot like mine! This is a pretty good shot, and I like the right side of the photo. However, in my opinion, the edge of the left side needs be taken out, because I'm not so fond of the corner just getting "cut out." If it weren't for that, I believe that your eye could move more freely throughout the photograph.

I really like this shot because it's very refreshing and aesthetically pleasing. I love the muted colors and how white the snow is! great picture.

I'm really glad to see a picture of the snow on here because i was not here to see it (i saw snow in Kansas City though). I really like how the trees lead your eyes around as if you're looking for a way out of the forest. i also like how there is snow on everything including the smaller bars of the deck and the chairs. unfortunately i have to agree with Chris Kent because the i really dont like the corner thing like jutting out into the left side of the picture because it really distracts me from looking around. but overall this is a great photo and i wish there were more snow pictures.

this is a nice shot. I think you did a good job with the curves adjustment. you defiantly brought out he white in the snow. i do agree with chriss though on the camera angle. I think you should have taken the shot a little more to the right.

This is a good picture, I like the way the woods look in the snow. I think a shot of just the woods would of made it a lot better. You did a good job bring out the snow but to me the woods when it was all white is what looked really spectacular monday. The panorama really moves your eye across the screen making it very unique.

Looks amazing really love the snow it looks absolutely beautiful. The trees from a distance look the best. And how perfect the snow is on the chairs and porch is also great.

I really like the extreme tones in this. (: The whites are so white and the blacks are so incredibly black. It's a very charming, sharp composition and a lovely reminder of our once-in-forever snow day ! Good job. The railings of the porch make very nicely defined leading lines.

This picture is really beautiful. I like that you did the curve adjustment to bring out the snow because it does stand out. The trees in the background are very beautiful. I like that the porch is a little off centered. The wood and trees are so dark though. The trees in the bottom right corner area is blurry giving the whole picture depth of field which was really good. The snow may be a little to bright though. i like that there are a lot of lines that lead you through the picture, too. This picture gets me excited and wanting to go outside and play in the snow (if there was any). I'd totally have a picture like this somewhere in my house.

AM SPHS Snow day bama style

im sure many people took pictures that day and i think you did a pretty good job catching and summarizing the scene. i like the way you adjusted the levels to where the wood is darker so the snow stands out more.

I really like this picture. The trees look great. I like the vertical lines that they make. They go well with the horizontal lines from the deck. The lighting looks great. This is a great shot. It looks like a wonderland with the white trees. I also like how dark the tree trunks look. They contrast well with the snow. Awesome job.

I think this picture captured the snow day nicely. I like how the lines of the porch draw the eye to the left corner. The snow pops nicely against the dark tree bark and porch. The lines of the trees draw the eye as well. I like how the photo is wide angled.

Wow...I dunno how I can begin to describe how awesome this photo is; to me, it looks like a scene out of a movie. I haven't seen contrast that works so well in a quite some time; it's great how you made the snow really stand out. What's more is the way the trees in the background and those on the right side give the photo an especially surreal feel. One thing that distracted me a bit is the whatchamacallit in the lower-left corner. This may just be me, but the fact that I couldn't tell what it is drew me away from the rest of the photo for a while; I suggest cropping this part out. Other than that, I can't find anything wrong with this image. Keep up the good work!

P.S. Shame that it snowed on a Saturday instead of getting us out of school for a day *shrugs*

I really like this picture. It reminds me of my old house when i was younger. I like that it is a very wide shot also. The snow on the tables and all over the rails adds alot of contrast to the black of the rails and tables aswell as the trees in the background. I would like for there to be more on the bottom right side of the picture, perhaps more white but overall it's a great shot. GREAT JOB THAGRID!

I absolutely love the lines in this photo, for one. Also, the depth of the trees gives the shot interest. There are lots of visual lines, and the contrast between the bright white snow and the dark brown/black tones make for a very pretty shot. It gives off such a cold, wintery feel.

When i first saw this i thought it was boring. But when i enlarged it and looked at it more closely i liked it. I love all the detail of the trees, and the wideness of the photo is kind of panoramic. The only i don't like is that i feel like the subject matter could've been more interesting, but its not too boring. I overall really like this piece.
